G'day All

It was fairly primitive back in the early stages of circuit racing in Australia.

Here are a few of the pit "tents" of the era

Bob Jane's pit tent

Jag's pit tent

A lonely Mustang and wide-eyed young car enthusiast

AND the creme de la creme of pit tents and what a stable of cars

GT Falcon, Mustang and Charger and I would like to think a "Torana" would occupy the empty space :spoton:

More pics will have to wait a day or so as I've been laid up with my back problems.

But I will put them up as soon as I can sit at this compoooooota long enough

Some of those photos were marked Winton March 10 1968 but as I have had to return them quickly, I don't have that info with me.

As Gary said about the photos coming out of photo album, the album is the old type which has a sticky surface with the plastic cover.

Each photo (approx 170) had to be prised off the page with extreme care using a butter knife which has a round end and no cutting edge.
Luckily enough I only damaged one and that was the photo of the LC Supercharger engine bay of which I physically repaired it and then digitally repaired it.

Even though I did scan every photo, not all would be appropriate to be put on the forums as they were personal photos and I promised the owner I would scan every one of them and put them on a CD for him.

He does have more and there are a lot on 35mm slides.

Hopefully get some more up soon of this first lot :spoton:

Regards ..... Barry

Was the lady racer Christine Cole ? as there were also photos of Fred Gibson who later married Christine.

many thanks for these photos. At least one of the cars is still around and competing the metallic blue FE of John Blanchard is still competing in Victoria. In fact the car has to be the oldest continually logbooked car still around and it has never been a road car. A true original never driven on the "highway"race car
As a member of the Historic Touring Car Association of Vic i d like to ask permission for the photos to be available to our car club.
We are getting a History of racing FX/FJ/FE holdens racing in Australia documented and written.
Could I please get a contact for Barry as he has a great data base/reference here which would be of great assistance
cheers
