Had Ned from Solo tune the motor & make some set up changes for round 1 of the WSID track champs. Was hoping to run a 10.5 on Avgas & a 10.4 on VP race fuel. First run on Avgas & ran a 10.168 @ 132.18 & did 10.1's & 10.2's all day on Avgas. Ned is the man to speak to about getting your Torana to run the 1/4 Mile quickly. I did not get to use the VP fuel as we only had two qualifying rounds & did not want to be unsure on what time to lock in.
Did manage to get through to the quarter finals (final 16 out of 64) but red lighted.
Will try out the VP race fuel at the next test & tune to see if we can get into the 9's.

I heard that Ned had his Torana out there and it ran a 8.7 @154mph
making it the second fastest "Super street" sedan in the country.

Anyone who was out there got any pics?

Yeah he was hoping for a 8.9 but ran 3 or 4 8.7 passes. Not bad for a N/A SB chev with 9" wide tyres.
Photo's should be up on Cacklingpipes.com soon.

Yeah Red with the the blackouts & the old GTS style wheels. Paint is ok but it is a race car only at this stage.
Cheers

Yeah thats the one. Does not get the wheels up as high as some of the others but goes well enough for me for the time being.
Going to the test & tune in a few weeks & changing fuel along with upping the transbreak RPM point so it should leave the line a little harder.
Thanks for the photos.

Did not make it to the test & tune so stuck with the Avgas for Fuch's nationals. Magaged to run a 10.114 so it is still getting quicker. Need to work on the ass end as it squats before it launches.

I would have thought thats what you would want, more weight to the rear better traction ?? Anyway i missed you up there on saturday with all the rounds of pro stock to top fuel going to about 11pm maybe next bracket meet will catch up with you

The ass end is squating after the initial launch. It does a sort of double lauch where it squats down & then comes up out of that position & squats back down. I'm heading up to Palmyra for the race up their but will be back for the next bracket meeting @ WSID so hopefully catch you there.
Nice hatchback you have got looks awesome in the photo's.
Cheers

Ran the final round of the WSID champs today.
Changed the wheels to Weld Prostars from the Steel GTS rims
Ran a 9.971 @ 132MPH
Awesome to be in the 9's.
I'd say this time will now put me out of the GMH Drag nationals.

Yeah Pissed off that I can't run at our day.
I was thinking about running mufflers & airfilters & set the rev limiter lower but I would not want to get the track off side just so I can run. Depending on what's going on (wife is due on the 2/7) I will try to get out there to meet everyone & help out where I can.
I can't believe I ran into the 9's. I have been talking about it all day. Still can't believe it. The car felt great all day & the change in the rims just gave it that little extra.
Cheers

Congratulations hey! Both on the 9s and on the forthcoming bub!

I know the feeling you've got right now, It's such an awesome feeling to break another milestone! My milestones are a bit slower than yours, but i think just as thrilling!

Hopefully you can make it on the 10th, but it's understandable if not!

Cheers! :spoton:
