Hi all
Here in Vic, it is difficult to buy rebuild kits for brake boosters. Why are retailers reluctant to sell rebuild kits? A couple of large retailers actually refuse to sell them - even to qualified mechanics. Surely it can't be a safety issue as they are happy to sell all other brake parts and rebuilt kits. Is it because specialist equipment is needed? If that is so - how do they know that the purchaser hasn't got access to specialist equipment?
Just wondering.

Rebuild kits are hard to buy cause there is no kit avail
You have to piece it together with individual parts
And most people couldn't rebuild a booster anyway so why sell parts for something that your average Joe can't fix ?
Yes special tools are required to build a booster correctly
However if your prepared to make a couple of simple jigs and 1 special tool you can do it yourself
I wouldnt....... but people do
Get me the VH # off the side of the booster and I'll give you a lsit of service parts for it so you can have a go yourself if you like
Failing that pop down and see StedzLC at ABS (no sure which store) and he can sort you out.
Can't buy kits in US either.... just FYI

Thanks Datto
That clears a lot up. Perhaps I am confusing 'we won't sell you a repair kit' with 'we can't sell you a repair kit'.
