A few quick and easy questions for you this afternoon :)

What colour red are holden 6's painted? Code preffered. (Name would work otherwise; Probably have to paint with a can as the rebuild isn't happening at my place where I could spray it)
If there are differences in colour between engine models, the engine is a 2600H 161 from LC 4 door.

And for added complexion..

Anyone have good resource on getting the 'holden 2600' logo on top? Just the standard 161 (H or L), not S. Be it high quality photos, colour codes, stencils, whatever. I'm going to lose mine when the engine is acid dipped.
I still want the engine to look like the original thing.
I have a suspision im going to have to find an example to get colour matched and repaint it manually with stencils.

Thanks, as usual! :spoton:

Thanks, luke ;D

Those decals btw are just GTR.

I should've taken a photo of the head before i took it away! lol. Someone else here is bound to have a standard 2600 I hope!!
Hmm, i do know someone who has the same engine but its so thick in grease and oil, i doubt i'll be able to see it

septone make a spray can called holden orange, which ive found is closer to original than the VHT brand rocket red. you can get septone from supercheap for $12 a can. 2 cans will do it, painted over a few days you will get a very nice finish.

I compared a lid of holden orange to the engine and it was a few shades brighter than the red on my engine. TBH, i'd prefer a darker shade rather than brighter. I'll see if i can compare the two paints at the shop without having to buy one.

VHT Holden Rocket Orange is the colour. It darkens up once it's exposed to the heat. Went through that saga when I did my new heads.

Degrease, degrease, degrease, and when you think you've degreased it, degrease it again.

I also tape up any flat metal (shiny) attachment areas and cut the edge with a ball pean hammer (bit like making gaskets the old fashioned way). Works for me.

Also, instructions on the can are correct, apply many light coats and leave adequate drying time between coats, not heavy coats. Just try get the coats as even as you can.

Thanks to all. The 'darken with heat' explaination must be the reason for the darker colour already on the engine.
