Hey guys, I got a pair of OBX Racing seats that I want to mount in theSedan, I pulled the base off a stock seat and with some small modsmanaged to bolt it to the bottom of the racing seats but I think it may be too high... my cars off at the panel beaters atm so I cant check yet.

Anyone got any pics of how they did it?

The stock rails are a pain in the neck, just use some universal flat rails and space them up at the back with taller brackets.

(HQ ute bumper brackets can be modified to suit almost any application  )

The cheapest rails available are Autotechnica 639F at around $69 each. You should be able to order them at any REPCO store or I think REPCO Rockingham have them on the shelf.

SAAS, OMP, Sparco and Cobra are all similar to the Autotechnica and cost between $90 and $200 each.

Recaro rails are $200 each.

The seat rails from a series 2 Jag and some Rovers are similar to the Recaro rails in design and quality.

I have the SAAS, Jag and Recaro rails if you want to have a look at them. The SAAS rails are setup on brackets to suit a SAAS seat in a Torana. The Recaro rails setup on brackets to suit a V2 Monaro seat in a Torana.

^^ I think those Autotechnica ones are what I have, they seem to be perfectly adequate

edit: once you chop all the extra feet and whatnot off, VN-VS Commodore rails are similar and could work, might be a cheaper option

While on the subject of after market seating, when it comes to getting rego, do recaros etc need to be engineered?

Yes, new seats need engineering approval. My engineer wanted to see new seatbelts as well.
I modified the original rails to mount my SAAS seats, but they are borderline in height. I wouldn't want them any higher at all.
