gday all,
I have been given a blue 202 crank for my red 202 build up from a mate, But another mate has told me the rear main seal is different between the reds and some of the blues. He told me the reds all had rope seals and some of the blues had rope seals and some nyeprene. Can someone confirm or deny this?
Also how would i spot the difference?
Thanks
Steve

not sure which ones had what, but the rope seal is just a bit of rope, pretty easy to spot. The neoprene is a hard rubber seal. Youll see if u pull the engine apart.

Steve Ive got the same setup in my LC, and from memory my engine builder told me to use a block, from a HQ-HZ as they used the rope seal.
Hope this helps.

I got the crank out of a VH that a mate had.
I guess it is the not rope seal.

doesn't matter because there is a neoprene seal that can be fitted to rope seal blocks now...I found out from the local engine reco dude so i am gussing a trip to a similar establishment may yeild results...unless your local repco/bursons/autobarn/whatever are clued up (mine usually are not) then they may know about it..I have a red 202 with a neoprene seal and if I can get the part no. of it I will post it here.

In the Perkins/ACL rebuild kit we had it had both in it. Check the kits.
