G'Day All,

Posted Image

Well I have nearly finished all the alterations to my baby so I thought I should start a post to show the before and after results.

It has just come back from the panel beater where it had a little bit of rust removed and is due to go to the painter within the next week or so. There I will be getting the paint put back to the original scheme with black sills etc. I am also putting the front spoiler back on and will be putting on a set of original wheels and hubcaps back on.

I will post a pic when I get it pack from the shop.

Looks good now should look great with the black sills, spoiler and are you doing the black lower bits, that would really finish it off. Would love to see the final pics. Cheers Jim

Yes Jim,

I am going to do all the lower bits black, as per how it left the factory. I have an old advertising pamphlet for the SL/R 5000 and it just happens to use a barbados green model in the photographs so I have a pretty good guide.

It should have black sills that run behind the rear wheel arch and join with the black at the rear of the car.

The only thing i am not doing with the paint is re-painting the engine bay. At the moment it is painted barbados green the same as the body and I am pretty sure it should be black??

That was exactly my idea. The mags on the car at the moment are 17's, so I'll use those for running around on and out of town travel and sve the hubcaps for car club runs and shows etc. (I still have to find some rims yet anyway.)

Hey Kudu great ride. always loved barbados. engine bays are black originally but look ten times better in the same colour as the car, leave it as you have it unless you want to go concourse or something.
