350's are miles too big, 390 4 barrel square bores are too big but are the ultimate...reasonable economy, excellant power
Depends on what it is going on as to the legality....weber, varijet and WW Strommy are pollution compatable..holley is not.

WW is a pretty good happy medium and they're readily availible. (Standard 253 carb)
Don't know anything about the ADM 34 Weber, but teh Varijet II is worlds ahead of the 1bbl Stromberg, easy to find and work on, and it'll still give you good economy.

I got extra 10 mph on the top end when I replaced the modified single with a 350 and I got another 5 mph when I put the 390 on.

I would give it a try if you have a budget (they are pretty cheap carbies)!!!

A 350 has 2 big throttle butterflies on a common shaft....so no secondary...not very good for driveability.
390 has 4 small barrels...secondaries.... good airspeed thru the venturis...good driveability and is economical (if you keep of the secondaries) and powerful (if you don't)

Thats not to say the 390 or 465's are crap, just that baby brother 350 still does the job nicely!! And it's been proven that they make power!
