Hi everyone just wondering if you can recommend a reliable restoration company to restore my L34? I'm looking at getting a full nut & bolt restore. Money is no object :)

Thanks
Jero

what is wrong with it ? there getting rare now you should weigh up the
option ? there are alot of people out there restoring , but
we still need some reference originals to refer two ,

You should be very carefull when considering a full on rebuild especially a L34
you may devalue it ? :spit:

nothing is wrong with it, i just want to fix things up cosmetically & mechanically. I want to get it back to it's original factory condition.

for example -
some bodywork, new paint job, new rubbers, new glass

Jero,

There are a few professional restoration mobs around that specialise in GT's, l am not aware of any for Torana's but surely there must be one somewhere that can do the factory correct resto you are after. It's big $$ to have a GT done by one of these companies, north of $50k and for a poor car much more than that. l cant see why an L34 would be any less if its in poor condition. Having said that just how bad is the car? originality is the biggest determinant of value these days, could you get by with just a paint job and tidy up?

Cheers

Hi Jero,
How about contacting AMC to ask for Gary Wedesweiler to contact you about any leads or experiences. His Azure Blue L34 that featured in issue 15 is well restored. I am sure he researched it well. I agree with the others that a tidy up might be better.

I know what you mean. Nice car, but be nicer getting her all A1. I agree with Toranavista's approach, travel the already travelled path, rather than making a new one.

Try find a few cars that have been restored from the same repairer and are A1 class, most of these restoration shops are nothing flash, just a flashy name and a big $ bill.

I thought your L34 was sold as a "restored" L34? It was the one on muscle cars about 12 months back right?

I take it you don't want to, or don't have the expertise, or car space to do much of it yourself?

my thoughts exactly Yella, it's a nice car but i would love to have it all A1. Like i mentioned before it really only needs some bodywork to remove a few dints & cracks, new paintjob (has had one previously, but could be alot better), definately needs news rubbers & glass throughout, and also tuning of the engine. The interior is pretty much perfect. My dad knows a little bit about them but not enough to start tinkering with the engine. He had one when he was young & now he is re-living those days by buying this car.

LS1LX - The car was bought original - unrestored.

The paint and panel work could be done by any competant shop. They could also replace the rubbers at the same time. Full rubber kits are less than $1000, and there are a few places that make them. The engine tune could be dddone by somebody who knows how to set up twin point disys properly, the rest should be fairly straight forward. Hopefully, it will be as easy as I make it sound.
