Well I picked up my new car this week from the customs clearance place. Very happy with my buy!

Details are: 1973 Camaro RS split bumper
Worked 454 big block chev
3o thou over pistons @ 10.5:1 comp
forged rods and pistons - unknown brand
580 thou lift cam
ported oval port heads
port matched edelbrock manifold
edelbrock 750 carby (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too small)
hooker competition headers - HPC coated

Turbo 350 auto with 3800 stall
10 bolt rear with posi LSD - 3.43 ratio
mostly factory interior
weld draglite wheels 15 x 9 rears and 15 x 4 fronts

The plans:

clean it up and get it registered how it is, then slowly do things on it.
Monster tacho is already out, custom dash will be in before rego
different wheels - wider rears and wide fronts as well so it handles
upgrade front brakes and convert rear to discs
convert to manual (TKO600 from the torana) and 9" diff
seats will be all black
centre console
upgrade suspension to something that will handle decent
body and paint.

hi Rowan

Good to see that car.

Just a comment, I wouldn't say that carby is too small. Dont get trapped into the bigger is better thing. Ive done some calculations and a 454 revving to 6000 only needs 670 cfm airflow at max revs of 6000. So I would be thinking the 750 is quite OK.

I had a 750 on my 383 chev and ive gone back to 650 cfm. Works a lot better.

I dont know a lot of your engine specs but from what you have said I reckon the 750 would be good.

Oh and Rowan... talking about colours.....
How can you go past BLACK again ??
:)

Nice
I prefer these over the 67-69
And I love split bumpers

So... hows it go ?

Oh I'd keep it purple too

I wouldnt touch another black car mate - yeah they look awesome but too much maintenance and fuss

My mate has a HQ monaro coupe with a 454 virtually same specs and he has a 850 double pumper on his and its perfect size, but we'll see. Its got alot more balls than the 308 did so ill get used to it how it is for now.

Datto - not sure how it goes properly yet - only driven it about 200m. But its very sedate to drive (sounds like it wants to punch you in the face though) on 1/4 throttle - but give it a little and it picks up instantly. haven't hit full throttle yet

Awesome stuff :)

I'm more of a 69 fan, but i would be proud to have that in the shed!

Any plans to change it to RHD?

oh god no!

RHD it would bastardise it, haven't seen a nice job done on a 70 - 73 yet. Plus they are then worth less, and its cool driving on the wrong side of the car on the left hand side of the road

its stock diff. 10 bolt with 3.43 posi LSD centre. And yes I do want to sell it, but i'd need the money to put in a 9" and the tremec straight away so im not stuffing around with a tailshaft twice.

PM me if you want WOT.

that looks tuff, is there much you will have to do to get it on the road?

there are a few cracks here and there in the paint, and a few minor spots of rust - so nothing major.

Just little things to get it on the road, like heater box, rear view mirror, sunvisors etc - its just saving thats the big problem

Very Noice!

Will the bellhousing from the tko fit straight across?

no, the TKO bellhousing was for a 308. They are a bit different to a Big Block Chev :P

So I'll have the bellhousing up for sale if anyone wants or needs one!

Purple inserts on the door trims to match the seats as above.
And white stripes would look good on it too as per rorys suggestion.
