Just this morning i noticed a knocking/scraping sound from the diff (im guessing the diff)... mainly noticeable when taking off, slowing down, or going round corners. when cruising along it is not noticable.

Not sure of exact diff type, but is a 3.08 LSD diff.

Is my diff almost dead?
How long will it last now if i take it very easy??

Mike

Could be a uni joint, they can make a lot of noise when they get a bit of wear in them.

Its just a tapping noise, when slowing down slowly, its a quiet tapping noise. if i hit the brakes hard, or take off medium-hard its more of a harsh tapping. round corners its also pretty bad.

Im not sure exactly how to describe it. I did roughly 20km so far on it and it seems ok. Tomorrow i gotta go to work, and thats like a 35km return trip, so ill see how it holds up.

If its a uni, wouldnt it be a constant tapping?

If it does it around corners, it could be a bearing. Sometimes an accurate internet diagnosis is impossible.

Maybe a broken tooth on the diff gears, if its a uni and its going to let go its not wise to drive it. you need to jack it up and check the moving parts for excessive wear etc.
