bugger missed out. Got out bid with 3 seconds to go, by a bidder that only made one bid!!!!!!!!.
Pete, I could be wrong but it sounds like you don't know how to use ebay effectively, you're not alone many people still don't understand how it works.
Bid the highest amount you would pay for the item then walk away, if you are there till the last three seconds bidding furiously it's like gambling, you get competitive and could end up bidding more than what you wanted to spend.
The guy that won bid once and he could've been the first person to bid. He bid the highest amount he wanted to pay for it and nobody outbid him at closing.
Let's say an item is currently at $1 it's worth no more than $10, and you were the very first person to bid, you could in theory bid $1,000 for the item.
You will not get charged $1,000 unless someone else pushes the bid that high, of course nobody will for a $10 item.
If the highest bid for that item at closing is $5 you will win and only pay the next increment, so you will end up winning the item for $5.50 or $6 (depending on the increment) even though you were the first person to bid and placed only one bid of $1,000.

I understand how it can work but there is also the thrill of the chase!!!!!
So I missed out this time there will always be a next time. I wasn't willing to go over $650 for the wheels as a new set is less than $1000. So not much sense getting too carried away and getting too close to the price for a new set when the used set have to be crack tested and checked for roundness before I can use them.
cheers

Interestingly the quoted list only gives the pcd to the nearest mm, possibly with the european cars they are exactly 108mm. We dont know whether they could indeed be the correct size for the torana which is 4.24? or 4.25? in, or 107.7 and 108.0mmIts 2 thou difference...not quite the same as trying to fit Astra wheels which have 2mm (80 thou) difference....or Commodore on HQ which are 0.6 mm or approx 23.5 thou different.
If its 4.24 is within 0.30mm good enough?
Another factor to consider is the bore diameter, which I assume possibly tells you whether the rim will fit over the holden hub and/or need additional locators. What the chart doesnt also tell you is the bore diameter of the stud holes , and whether you'll be able to get nuts which secure it properly to the torana threads.

4.24 is a nothing size....I don't care how many books misprinted it.
4.25 inches is an exact size.
108 mm is an exact size.
If you check out the link to the original page...it has some bore sizes on it...I didn't feel like cluttering up the table with another number..esp after the formatting stuff up.

Fair enough, 4 1/4 indeed sounds more likely.4.24 is a nothing size....I don't care how many books misprinted it.
4.25 inches is an exact size.
108 mm is an exact size.
Has anyone really measured it accurately on a torana hub, what do the wheel makers use? or were the manufacturing tolerances beyond the difference making it a non issue anyway?

Hrrrm, I assume you're not bidding on the torana parts that I watch.........any $10 torana part is sure to go for $50 because too many people wanna talk their stuff up.....

If the bid starts at $10 it will only go for $50 if others bid that high.
If the item is worth $10 and the seller puts it in for $50 people tend not to bid for it at all if it ain't worth it.
