I give up.

Using engine stands is not cost effective + the vertical pole slopes backwards, so you need to cut it off and weld it back on. Been there, and abandoned that idea. Common misbelief that engine stands make good rotisseries. They don't.

On top of that, you can buy all your materials for the cost of one engine stand.

Anyways, I'm sure you'll work it out.

^ I thought the same, till I built mine.

Did some looking around. The engine stands aren't wide enough, so by the time you also add a bar nearly as wide as you car, you only have one bit of the engine stand left doing anything for you. So basically, I was just doubling up the steel in the engine stand. At that point I just asked "why am I doing that?". All I was using the engine stand for was as an expensive set-square, that needed one bit realigned!!!

It is more convenient buying the engine stand for the rotating heads, but telescoping tube and a bit of grease isn't too hard. I then came up with the idea of using a drive plate, a starter motor throw-out gear, and a handle. Seems to work a treat (gives you 16:1 ratio).

I can't find any really good pics of mine...i made it from 75mm & 100mm square rhs for about $350.

Check out a site called 'radum' they show pics of cheap rotis so you might get an idea off those.
