I would offer to cut the grass if you can have the "rusty cars" in the backyard.

Well, found the owner through a neighbour (who also said the cars have been there 20 odd years) and I'll just say he doesn't want to part with any cars. Which he made extremely clear, then told me I have a hide for asking. Then took my rego as I drove off. Very friendly sort of bloke obviously.
He also had another Torana in the driveway at his house, in about the same condition as the other two.

Oh well, back to the UC.

Thanks for the suggestions.

This house is in Newcastle? or MT Colah/Asquith in Sydney?...if the latter...they have been there for 20 odd years and by all accounts the owner is rather grumpy when asked about the cars....the lime "SLR" (or copy) has rotted away making it nice and easy to remove the bodykit....just pull.

Ask the neighbours around that house and if you don't want to mention the cars just say you are looking to buy a house in the area and thought it might be up for sale?

Dress neatly, ask politely and don't look like a derro and they will probably give you the answers you are looking for :spoton:

Regards ... Barry

I heard about a house like this a few years ago had a blue hatch in a carport all overgrown. The interesting part was the person who spotted the car swears its an A9X (and yes he does know what he is looking at) and the only 2 blue hatches in this colour were both stolen..... I never bothered to chase it up

Real Estate agent, not because it is a rental property, but because they get reports from the Council Property Rates database. Also has interesting stuff on it like when the property last sold and for how much.

Cheers fellas but I already been and seen the owner as above.

Shit atleast u asked and didnt just pinch em, some old people shit me, rather have cars rust away to nothing than see someone else enjoy them

Yeah, wouldn't be hard to get the two in the yard either, the neighbour would be happy to see em go.
But, if he wants to let them sit and rust, so be it.

It's a shame though, the 2 door in the yard had a cover over the front but has a rear spoiler and the one in his driveway had XU-1 decals and guard flutes. Makes you wonder...

To slr-v8 .At least you did your best to try and save the pore little things, some people are just rude hay .This sunario sounds similer to one i've had not long ago.where I'd come across three toranas a LH and an LX + a UC that where realy ruff (lots of rust) in a block that i didn't do eny thing about for like a year.It took me a wile to track the owner down.I eventualy fownd out by the reckors that where not far.The owner was a real creepy nuff nuff sort of like out of the hills have eyes lol.Eny way it took ages to get it out of him if he was interested in selling them and he was like shocked i even asked at first and real keen to sell them and wonted the mony right there and then and the cars gone that day. So it looked all sweet like we had a deal but I couldn't till the week end.Eny way then when the weekend come he wouldn't anser his phone friday so saterday i went to his house and his wife said he wosn't there. So i said ok do you know when he'll be back.No i'll get him to ring you.Ok .No phone call so i rang him back the next sunday and he's like real rude and he wonts $100 more saying you now these are realy old and rare cars you know you carn't get them eny wear. All right i spos an extra 100 bux is alright. And then that wasn't good anuff then he wonted to take a car of me.So then i just said look dude just ring me back when you've got time and you've sorted out what you wont for them. And I've Never herd back to this day.

hey slr v8 don,t take it to heart there has been a 4 door sitting in ashfield for years and i have tried numerous times to contact them but i have just watched it rust away.Because they never got back to me or never could find out who the owners ever were but hey that,s life , i tried the neighbours , council ,bugger me everybody but oh well. The worst is old blokes still holding onto dreams or something just sell the bloody thing that,s what i reckon if your not doing anything with it just get rid of it oh well that,s my 2 bob,s worth cheers billywest

This post reminds me to chase up "oldmate" about a couple of (thats right 2) slr toranas (1 has flares and V8 the other is 6cyl)
about a year ago they were in his backyard under an old grey gum tree, the guy said his son was gunna fixem up.
about 3 months ago i checked them and found that the old gum tree had fallen right accross the roof of both of them.
so ive been enquiring about them again, so far i found out that the son has gone to WA and works in a mine there somewhere,
im still workin on this so stay tuned......
