my car was rta inspected with the nitrous all in the car. in nsw,you just have to have the bottle disconnected.

and n2o is non flamable.there are alot of nitrous myths, and a few of them are in this thread :clappin:

for what the gas will cost you, especially if you use it on the street you could pay for a supercharger very quickly. A few people I know use over $300 of gas just at a test'n'tune

I'll only say it one more time...No nitrous component can be installed in the car in QLD.

Is all.

Cheers.

Why not convert the car to LPG/petrol But fill the tank with nos instead :) Instant hidden system, bust out the 90L Cylinder.... sweet as.

If you used a gas vapour injection system, that would actually be a perfect disguise - but good luck getting someone to fill your tank.

What about methanol/water injection? Or is that illegal too? If not, it offers cheaper, longer lasting power, rather than a 2-second squirt of nitrous.

the reason for n20 is because its less dangerous then O2. and n2o can be compress more then oxy hence smaller bottle for more go

Methanol/water injection was used by the Germans (and others probably) in WW2, to boost the performance of piston-engine fighters. It provides a modest power boost, but works well with forced induction because of the additional intake cooling. Whether it would make much difference to a street car I don't know, but we are looking at alternatives after all.

Bomber, are you going to post your nitrous set-up when you have it finished?

I have to laugh a little and must admit I, we are all constantly learning new things but a few years experience will tell you that most of the technology you guys are trying to re invent was used in the WW2 on fighter and bomber planes and most of it made it's way to the general public, you would think if there was anything special out there that it would be in use now? Just like supercharging, N2O and alcohol based fuels.

IMO there is probably alot in the new E85 as ULP and PULP as we know it now may have a limited life span and with a few changes to the old systems we know there can be alot of power had, albeit with an decrease in economy so that may be an avenue for you to follow up on.
I think with the super taxi mob now switched to it's usage the technology is there.

Yeah TerrALX, I do see your point. But having something like this site, shares information amongst us all. I don't know everything but I wish I did, It would make my life so much easier. But you can't IMO write off historical attempts, because I think that if we didn't have stepping stones from the past, we wouldn't be where we are now. Not every idea has been thought of before, people invent new stuff every day. And most of these cool ideas and inventions don't come from scientists in labs, they come from everyday joes who share knowledge amongst each other. I thank everyone that adds their 2 cents, because I'm learning new things. :)

What would hydrogen do? I saw a clip on YouTube of a guy igniting a milk bottle full of it and it made a bloody big bang.

Perhaps have a look-see at these links on water/methanol injection.

http://www.dieselwor...ent/view/70/37/

http://www.mgcars.or...injection.shtml

From what I've learnt from years back during trade school, W/M inj. will do diddly-squat on a normal N/A engine, a little on a high compression engine, and the good gain on a forced induction engine is mainly due to the ability to introduce more timing. (Not having to retard it as much)

The main problems are corrosion in the pump and delivery system and hydro-locking the engine if the control valves fail. Using distilled water only, and the availability of methanol or substitute mean another ongoing cost.

In short- there's many other alternatives which will give better gains.
