Its a V8..
4cam 4 valves
all alloy thus light weight around 80kg lighter than ironblock..lighter upfront then.
Seems cheap, seen them around 1000-2000 bux(depends on K's and what comes with..
allmost 300 hp stock..not much to get it to 400-500 Hp.
Well thats just a few positives..im sure there's negatives..but looks like a very good motor..Question is...Have any members done the conversion?

All I can think of is the usual issues like mounting it, finding a bellhousing/tailshaft suitable and the obvious one... will it fit in the damn engine bay without block-huggers or at all!

Its abit of a tight squeeze
He has had to make custom sump and exhaust manifolds (to suit the 2 GT28's)
CRS supplied the bellhousing kit to suit the Supra box and I have just supplied the Xtreme clutch and had the flywheel modded to suit
Should be a reasonable conversion when done
As for putting one in a Torana....... should be similar to what Chaotic is doing with the VH41 Nissan engine in another thread

There nothing flash, just a cheap to buy engine, they make around 190kw but thats at redline, there not very Torquey at all.
Very wide engine, a guy on here has a site showing his conversion, looks like there is more room for a Big Block Chev, not joking.
But there cheap to buy so whats a few $$ here and there to make it fit?
Its EFI, 4 cams, super smooth, reliable and parts are cheap and easy to obtain.
I wouldnt say 500hp is easy to get out of one of these little 4L puffers in NA estate, most are turbo charged when there pumping the HP.

Turboing one of those in a Torana is out of the question, Supercharging can't be too hard though. If it's low and wide then you might be able to fit it under the bonnet too!

It begs the question though,Why bother if so hard..?Yet the lure of Quick 500 Hp
(Supercharged ) Off Standard internals is tempting.I recon getting some weight off the front end,50-100 kg is not out of the question, which will give improved balance ratio between front and back..?Still having to chop up the front too much doesn't sound too good..

I am about to start on a 1UZ conversion into a UC. I picked up the car on Saturday (paid for it 9 months ago!) and its now in the workshop beside its new engine. I plan to get the motor sitting in place over the next couple of weeks and then sort the rest of the car (panel/paint, suspension, etc).
I have a 1UZ from a Celsior/LS400 and a choice of the 4 speed A340 that came with it or a 5 speed A350 if I can get the tiptronic controller to work with it. The rear sump version from the SC400 would have been the best starting point but I originally bought the motor for a VL... and then saw the light....
The motor is a 700mm cube, almost as wide across the heads as a BBC, and is a snug fit although it does clear all major components such as brake boosters, etc.
Engine mounts are easy. The exhaust is no more dificult than a SBC around the steering and there is a lot more room around the block/bell housing as the starter is in the V of the block between the heads and the oil filter is at the front.
The major problem with this swap is the sump. It can be built without cutting into the front crossmember but is a major project. The std 1UZ sump consists of an alloy girdle which provides some strength to the block with a tin pan to hold the oil. Even the SC400 tin pan is more of a mid/rear setup and won't clear.
I am going to remove the tin pan, dummy the motor in and see where I need to go from there. Pics to follow...
I have a contact in Aus who makes a basic kit for this (mounts, sump and headers) and will dig out his email address for you.

Superb engineering and workmanship from what I have heard.
Had mounts, 7 litre alloy sumps and mandrel bend headers for sale.

sump looks a bitch though. should of cut the crossmember right through, lowered the donk a bit more, and then solid mount the crossmember back onto the motor.?? (sounds good in my head)
