st up . you will need HEADS. , ( RED . early . RED late . Blue . Black . VN style or after market )
A manifold will not just go on top of a BLOCK .......
MORE INFO NEEDED , what heads do you have ???
There's a big range of inlet manifolds including stock Holden's

i've heard good things about the torque-power manifolds, mainly the dual plane hi-rise. harrop have been making them for a while now too.

^ No, 2 reasons, 1st there is no provision for mounting 2nd there is no eccentric on the end of the cam to actuate it, these can be retrofitted from the earlier red, blue and black motors tho.

No I am saying you have a choice, 1st choice as you have mentioned above or 2nd remove the timing case cover and change the standard flat washer on the cam to the eccentric washer and replace the timing cover with one that has the provision to mount a mechanical pump.
Hope that clears it up.

I just noticed your sig.... Quote from a 4WD Forum;

I've owned a VK . with factory fitted 308 ( BLACK ), with a standard electronic fuel pump.
The std fuel pump didn't not supply fuel to the carb .
EASY fix , undo the little cover plate on the drivers side of the block , just behind the timing cover and bolt on a mechanical fuel pump,
The actuator should be fitted on the end of the cam , ( unless some one has taken it off )Holden still fitted them , even through they weren't used ))
And get a L34 type pump, a std one does not supply enough fuel ..

Well no not really but there is vacuum advance, basically VN on the ECU advanced the spark as the revs increased, with a carby model the distributor has weights on a plate inside that advances the spark as revs increase.
Hope that helps.

Hello :)
Did you have any luck with the mechanical fuel pump issue mate? I've just got a 304 series 2 VR block built up and put into my Torana, and installed the original mechanical pump (that was working in the old engine 2 weeks ago). However when I wind over the new engine, it doesn't pump!! Perhaps I installed it wrong, or could there be a chance it doesn't suit the new engine / cam?

Any help would be great please :)

I don't think theres a cam lobe on the newer engines to suit mechanical pump

What cam did you have put in it when you had it built ?
