I wanted to get POTTA on my Hilux but DPI said no because it could be related to illegal activities.

Me and anyone who knows me at all knows that it is totally unrelated.

Oh well....

I'm gonna get some personalised plates on my Torry and some of you won't like them but I think it will give the car an identity.

I dont think you can sell them in NSW anymore can you?

Not sure about NSW but in WA the paperwork that comes with the plates says the owners name then the plate characters then the wording the owner bares the right to display or trade said plates or something along those lines.
I have a personalized plate on my clubby and my new personalized plates have just turned up for my torrie. I gotta say I'm pretty stoked about what I got.
LS 1 hatch I like your plates as it has a reference to Aussie. Noice !!

Just a comment on buying plates off another car,You are buying somebody elses original idea, and trying to make it your own.

People will be forever saying"Those are such-and-suches old plates....he sold them to that goose for (insert number here) dollars".

Maybe if you buy them off a friend or something. If you go looking through Just Cars and find a set of plates that appeal to you that you've never seen before, chances are nobody will recognize them. In Melbourne, the world ain't that small!

About 15 years ago I purchased XEL08 personalised plates for $190. The intention was to to indicate what the car was built to do and be a reflection of a part of my personality. Since then these same plates have been on all my performance cars as I have changed them and people now know it's me by the plate itself. I have been offered $$$ many times for them.... $3500 on one occasion... but they are not for sale. Here in QLD once you buy the plate you own it and there is only a fee to transfer from one vehicle to another. They are currently on my LJ.

My Landcruiser ute has 5IOTH on it.... another appropriate plate because it is painfully slow moving but will climb just about anything.

I also have a personalised plate on my Ducati 1098S Tricolore. It is one of only 20 of its kind in Australia so I chose ILDI0 which in Italian means 'The God', .... Not me, The Bike!

As much as I appreciate all my vehicles I don't name any of them as such, because I consider them inanimate and it seems inappropriate to me that a machine should be humanised. The bike is "The Bike", the Torana is 'The Turd" and the ute is "the 'criuser". Each to their own.:surrenderwave:

Nah I don't think so. We could just start it off on the end of here or start a new thread.

Start it here, mine are pretty simple:

Posted Image
202 powered Torana, running on 'bloody BBQ fuel', likes cooking tyres, etc. $295 - VicRoads

Posted Image
Datsun 260C with neglected paintwork. $325 - VicRoads. Was gonna cost like $150 just to get black plates, bloody joke. I just bit the bullet and got something to give it some a bit more memorable.

i like some personalised plates,

as it makes the car complete, most standard plates are crap with letters and numbers that have no meaning, and you feel like your just another number.

i,ve had these plates for 20 plus years, pay no fee,and i think by memory they cost $150

Ive got personalized plates on my cars. toranas I got for my 21st and kingswoods I gave to the missus for her bday. they were only around $400 back then. there is still a couple of good $500 combos still out there I may buy one day.

The white on black looks alot better then the white and maroon "qld the smart state" dickwit plates. and gives the cars a bit of an identity.
