Hi all, I have just got my hands on a big nut master and I want to fit it to my LC. Problem is the LC is running a disc front and it has drum stamped on the big nut. please can anyone tell me if I can still run this master cylinder with my disc setup, if not is there any way of modifiying it to suit?
Many thanks.....Adam

Hi Adam.
Yes, it can be made to fit. The only difference between the 4 wheel drum type & the disc/drum type (apart from the stamping) is the extra residual pressure valve. 4 wheel drum cars have two, one in each of the outlet fittings & the disc/drum type has only one (for the outlet to the rear drum brakes).
The other thing too, is that if you're fitting this for originality, there are 2 types. The early LC (before 7/71) has the HK/HT/HG style with rounded ends. 7/71 onwards have the HQ/HJ style where the body casting has more squared-off ends.

Thanks Dr Terry, very helpful. So to make it fit its just a matter of removing the residual pressure valve from the front outlet?? My LC is early '70 and the big nut came off a HK so it will be good for originality.......
