Least the glovebox isnt made from cardboard  . I like the modern shape of the uc dash, and improvments like the indicator stalk that incoperates the high beam, wipers and the washer bottle. The amount of improvements out weigh the poor designed tail lights.

The floor High beam switch, dash mounted wipers and foot operated park brake could be seen as "gay" by some.

The floor high beam was only in the 74 LH which I actually don't mind. It's not a visual thing. As for these things been seen as 'gay', a throbing dilpickle coming up through my drivers seat probing my orfice wouldn't be seen anywhere near as 'gay' as the UC banana! Pmsl :)

Well if that's the case, I've just learnt something new.

I always thought that EVERY LH Torana had the floor mounted dipper switch

To my knowledge, the indicator high beam switch was introduced with the LX.

I've owned an LX and 3 UC's. So I can laugh at both sides of this fence.

Old thread...But a Great read and laugh....Some of you guys are very witty...THX!

I bought brand new a LH and later a UC back when i was in my 20's.

Back in the 70's the Handling and features I felt the UC was a better car.

The UC was a SL deluxe (deluxe= intermittent wipers, sports mirror, sports gauges, laminated screen, overiders, full door coverings,4 wheel disc) it had a 3.36 diff 3.3 donk and went very well....I towed a pride panther ski boat,150hp mercury outboard, all the gear and fuel plus 5 in the car and it sat on 130kmh all the way from Broken Hill to Menindee lakes...lol

Mind you the LH was no slacker either...I remember going between Griffith and Hillston with the needle sitting on the "H" on the speedo kph. it went OFF the clock...lol...My mate was on the floor screaming out..."slow the Foockin thing down Griff...

I had a 4.2 UC paddock basher with a locked diff and Celica 5 speed years ago. Barrels of fun. The best thing about it was that I had the sense to stick it in a shed when it blew up and now I have 4 perfect rust free doors!!!

Edit. 3 perfect doors. I did go sideways through a fence once.

I guess you could say they are (cough) the top performance model of their range ..  much (cough) like  S4, X2, XU-1, L/34, A9X ....  UC/T  ..

PS ..  The first car I was ever going to buy was a brand new UC Sunbird from Young & Green Toronto, but the Bank wouldn't lend me the money.  I didn't know it at the time, but the bank did me a big favour  :)...   But my mate bought a brand new UC Torana Hatchback 202..  It was a really nice car, plenty of power, and drove and rode beautifully....

sure they got some unattractive features, But paint one Black with big wheels and 400+ Hp, and they start to look pretty good....

I did say.... "start to"  lol   :stirpot:

Not sure if this has been said before but the best advantage of owning a UC is that when you park it in a street in Sydney, when you come back, it will still be there AND in fact, probably still be there if you left it there for a month  :stirpot:

Then again if I parked my SS there it would be gone before I walked out of sight   :burnout:
