Series 2 V6/Auto
VT Front brakes/hub conversion
VS Front seats
Motor is mounted higher for a reason (make driveline perfectly straight to diff)
Radiator is fine being lower as it has a bleed valve to bleed each time before skids
Will make its debut on 5th of September

That almost looks like a big number 1 cut out under the bonnet.

Diff is now welded, sucks you can't buy a mini spool for them!

Grille trimmed and fitted so i can fill radiator without taking grille out
Thermo fan wired to a fused switch so i can leave it on when car is off aswell
A proper ignition fitted so i'm not shoving a screwdriver in a hole
Hole covered where stock factory fuel flap was with a passenger side cover flipped over tech screwed in and sprayed black
One pissed off brother who couldn't fit the passenger seatbelt... round 2 i might tape
LEFT TO DO:
Me:
Mount temp guage on cowel panel
Service engine and cooling system
Rechange diff oil
Change tranny fluid
Little Brother (machinist):
Tap where the bleed valve is and fit a T-Piece so that one side has the bleed valve for keeping the air out of the cooling system and the other being the probe for the temp guage
Fit passenger side seatbelt (if he wants to join me for skids)
Make panel for me to mount new ignition and fan switch
Obviously there is still more that i will update after Sunday's burnout competition like more gauges, better thermo, tranny cooler & proper gauge panel.

Entered Kukerin Burnout & Creek Bed Racing Competition
I ended up being first burnout of the weekend and it was a pretty decent one at that
What you can't see in the video is as i'm rolling out the pad i get brake failure and shut the car down a tad too late and hit their "safety chain"
Grabbed at base of window and dragged up to the top and pulled the roof in about 2 foot. My brother and i had our heads jammed in there with chain under our neck
Started it back up and hit reverse and they let us out. Had a rather heated argument with their so called official who ended it with "you signed a waiver"
I didn't give 2 shits about the damage, i was more worried about mine and my brother's safety which they didn't give 2 shits about
Funny thing being the window didn't even break, it was in amongst the mess of steel... bit of kicking out later and was able to remove the window... Bit more kicking again and we could see out the front again
Decided not to re-enter without a window due to there being a hole in the bonnet and history of blowing radiator hoses
One thing is for sure, people were surprised how well it lights up for a stock v6 still running the gemini diff and wide tyres!
Anyway here is a pic of the damage after all the kicking, might be able to upload an initial pic after cathching up with my brothers
We also removed the rear window so the 2 hour drive into the win didn't pop it out anyway and hit my brother following in his hilux
Anyway since then has been a bit of a mission but had it sorted. Cut the seats out (yes they were dodgily welded), Jacked the roof out a tad more then it needed to, bit of smashing and massaging and the window was partly fitting. Bit more massaging and we had an awesomely tight fit. Window frames on the front doors were a major task but the windows now go up and down and the doors open and close properly again!
Back window re-fitted with ease!
Next on the agenda was the tie down strapped commodore fuel tank in the boot (note: i bought it like this!) which happened to pass scrutineering at 2 different burnout competitions
Grabbed some 25mm x 25mm hollow square bar and made a frame for the tank to sit in and welded the frame to the rails
Then used some 3mm gal welded and bolted to the tank frame and tensioned with modified bolts/collars with conveyor belt rubber for support
Ended up with a nice fuel cell setup that was cheap and properly mounted. Another plus is i can get 40 more litres in this to what i could in the torana's RCI fuel cell so the extra weight over the back wheels is awesome
Next on the agenda is to add alot of bog to the body and paint it before the next show/competition here on the 7th of November, will update with pics after its painted!
Yeah all this effort could be well spent on the torana but i'm in a dilemma with lazy panelbeaters which seams to be the bulk of them in w.a

i'm thinking its because it has commodore calipers running on the gemini booster/master cylinder, might remove them and go back to gemini if they fail again

the calais rims suit it pretty damn well
brakes are still a tad funny, definately going to give them a flush/bleed before next comp

Got one of those electric brake line suckers to suck every drop or shitty old brake fluid then a couple of flushes with fresh stuff, should fix the issue I HOPE
Got some test and tune time set for out there next week
I've also fitted the toranas old ancient 205 13's to some hotwires for the next comp to, will be a bit of a centimental burnout comp!
Chasing a L67 within the next year
P.S it will be resprayed a nicer colour before the next comp if all goes to plan, just with industrial paint at brothers workshop though, nothing dirtbag spec

Finally obtained pic of it freshly smashed so you can admire the repairs haha
That's crazy, glad you guys were OK.
Not surprising though really, you can almost bend the old Gemmy metal just by looking at it.
No handbrake working in the car?
I remember driving my Gem for 2 or 3 days just using the handbrake after the brakes failed. Eventually i got freaked out by it in the wet and fixed it up. Great cars though.
Does nice bangers too, good job

And yeah... the repair job was quite barbaric but it worked
I should really put some sort of cage in because it won't stand up so well if brakes fail again
Its copping a respray in a better colour this week to get it out for the Holden VS Ford day later in the month
Then it has a burnout comp early next month
Got some fat 13's 14's and 15's for it aswell and hope to pick a trophy up in the non V8 class
People are getting real sick of VN-VT commodores with lockers and no exhaust so i should be in with a chance... i average 3 minutes + on burnouts though as its hard to get bald tyres so i'm smoking up brand new tyres most of the time
