I did order from minijed at ebay H4 Lights approx. 6month ago.

They arrived very quick in Germany but there where wrong and didnt fit into the original Headlightframes.

The lamps shape is too bulbous and cant go deep enough into the iron frame that they have 2 cm room before touching the surface of the frame.

The ebay seller sayd that they are for a LH Torana from 1974.

Was there differend lamp frames for round Torana headlights on the market?

I want to change to H4 as soon as possible but im not shure wich Headlights to order!?

Uwe

LH torana headlights are rectangular, yours were circular? I think we are looking at circular ones here for the lx,

NOPE! My headlights are circular and i cant find a LH with rectangular headlights at GOOGLE .

I did find both kind of headlights in the Torana LH parts catalogue.

The Torana here has round shaped lights with rectangular shaped surround.

It may be that some lh models had circular headlights, but if you type in "lh torana" into google and select images, you'll see a few rectangles!

Here in the Forum is a download space for a original GM Holden LH parts Catalogue.

At page number 134 are pictures of both headlight types printed.

Anyway, does someone know a version of crystal H4 Lights who fit into this buckets with no drama.?

Or can someone send me the complete set of buckets plus lights what fits together?

Uwe

I purchased some buckets (housings) today from the wrecker, from a Landcruiser fj45 and the crystals fit in, you only need to cut a small section out for the parker bulb, you can see this in the photos, cost me a total of $10 including the matching retainers (locking rims), I am yet to fit to my car but adjuster screws and spring are in the same position.

Hi, did check the German Ebay and there is not much Landcruiser stuff.

I know a guy here at the Nrburgring who converts old Minis and builds Honda 2liter engines into the Minis and beats all the dentists with their Porsches off the Nrburgring.

He will bring me some headlights to try if they fit.

There must be different 7" headlight sizes/types. The lights I have, are too big for my LX bucket, the three locating tabs will not sit into there groove and the back of the light is too bulbous.

Using the Landcruiser Buckets fitted perfectly centre......... but, and there is always a but,

Posted Image

The light will only fit up side down

Posted Image

If I swapped the adjuster screws and spring to the other side (mounting hole position) allowing the light to rotate 90deg, it doesnt line up at all

Posted Image

So now Im back to square one, I think I'll try some HQ buckets this time ;)

Sorry for the thread steel, but thought I'd post this in here, may be helpful to other members.

Cheers.

lx8vd77- would it work if you cut off the adjusting tabs and tacked them on 180 around?

Hi Peter,
The relocation of the adjuster tabs was the other option, or cut slits to make new positions for the three tabs on the back of the lights, but I think I will relocate the tabs.
Cheers.

the original lucas 7in sealed beam was a standard set in the 40s and must have been fitted to thousands of different model cars/trucks/buses both here and in the uk. The LX was supplied with general electric lamps, very much standard equipment in the US as well. Possibly the shape of the replacement units aren't exactly the same and it may be critical in how the lamp retaining equipment is set up on all cars.

Apart from the landrover, look at the over 4wds, mitsubishis, nissan patrols and other bigger vehicles that come equipped with the h4 lamps.
