There are no "but what if's" in racing. The end result is what counts.

I'm glad you said that and not me. :spoton:

The reason I picked these 2 races is that to me, at least, these are 2 standout Torana wins at the great race and reflect both the mighty LJ XU1 and the 2 door Taxi. :tomaatit:

Taking nothing away from any other Torana win or any Holden win for that matter. :nudie:

72 for me was Brocks first & best bathurst victory, 79 was good great car but look at the competition the xu1 was up against GIANT KILLERS all the way.

1975! Brock/Sampson, with Brock needing to win as a privateer just to pay the bills!

Love the 1979 Bathurst Win, but i will go with the 1972 Bathurst Win, and reason why, The LJ XU-1 Beat the Fastest 4-Door Car in the World , ya cant get better than that, and Brocky dident need the V8 in the XU-1 to do it as well, What a Driver and what a Car

Yeah yeah talk it up!..that 72 race was won in the rain..if it had of been a dry race then perhaps the outcome would have been very different. :stirpot:

Haaaaaaaa No need to talk it up, Brocky Won in Wet Conditions, even Harder to do than in the Dry and Ford was So Lucky that it wasent the V8 LJ XU-1 sparring with its XA Phase 4

Cant say i agree really..wet conditions tend to make things more equal..big HP isnt going to help you in the wet so it becomes more about driving ability..they might as well have all been driving mini's..it just happend that peter perfect was the better driver in the wet stuff! didnt really matter that he beat them driving an XU1.

Well if the 1973 LJ XU-1 had not ran out of Fuel at Bathurst in 1973, and on a Dry Track it proves the Point it was Brocky in his LJ XU-1

we all know pb loves the rain 1987 on slicks in the wet still get goosebumps watching that footage even though it wasnt a torana as this thread dictates im refering more to his driving ability.and the same goes for moff im not sure that the dry outcome would have been different any of those drivers of that caliber were not put off by a bit of water.and poor old bondy on lap 4 a over t up the top.

76 was the best win in a Torana........those other races pfftt

Easy to hit the top of the tree with all the best gear and money......and not necessarily legal cars, but let's not get into that......

I do think 72 was the outstanding race to see, brocky drove hard all day,and all by himself, and nothing like today.

Not taking anything away from his 72 solo victory, it was 800 km not the 1000 km it is today.
