I would have thought that the old hoon image of the Torana would have died out by now.

If it was dead, it got revived on this forum in "what's ur top speed", perhaps the old guy found it.

But seriously, I think Lakeside is on the money, Im sure that exhaust sounds aggressive and that is what upsetting your neighbour. I have to put up with a similar thing where I live, I can hear and recognise individual "hoon" cars by their exhaust note approaching the corner where I live, they tend to create more noise than necessary by double declutching and using a gear one too high for simply approachinga simple suburban corner at 20-30kmh. What maybe music to the ears of the driver is just noise pollution to others.

Yes and most are driving little hyundy XL RICERS! With there 5 inch
exhaust ,IT MAKES ME SICK! this is why there bringing in new rules . so you cant mod the car in anyway, exhaust / fuel system/ wheels tyers/ it will all be stoped!
on all new cars sold
And good on them!! , these cars are not race cars there simply for geting from A TO B / what piss me is the way thay think that there XL is fast ? pull up along side you wanting a race ?
i just give them the :finger: and thay soon move on, :fool:

Two many "wackers" on the road that stuff things up for guys that just want to cruzz.
Just diving a claissic car with a loud exhaust shouldnt put you in the same basket
as the other bad egges! but there are some very narow minded people out there
And two them one loud car is no different two another no mater what speed your doing . :spit:

What? You've got it wrong, you should be racing them!
Just handicap yourself, you're not allowed to crack a rev over 2000rpm or you lose by default.

You might be surprised how many you can "beat" to 60kph (or speed limit) at even 1750rpm :tease:
hahahahaha

That is the very reason I put my top speed down as adequate. :D

I think it's more like if you have a Torana with a bright colour, fat wheels, or a loud exhaust, then you're considered a hoon = /

If someone comes past my place late at night swearing carrying on with their mates, dumping their empties over my fence, pissing on my lawn , then I think most would classify that as hoon behaviour.
Same thing goes for the person driving past with the deliberately modified louder than legal exhaust. Both are demonstrating a contempt for the living standards of their fellow man.

Devils: They are also demonstating their passion for their car...

I'm not saying its right.. But as an example.. My car is too loud.. And as such i take the following steps to MINIMISE impact on my neighbours ( and by that i mean my neighbourhood).

I start the car, and drive away as soon as it is physically possible.. I dont let it warm up and idle for hours on end as some people enjoy doing ( One local WRX in particular!!)

When arriving home at night, I'll ask Simone to hop out and unlock the gates and garage while i do a quiet lap of the street so that i dont sit there idling away annoying everyone for what seems like hours....

And i dont "shit in my own nest"... I wont do burnouts, rev the snot out of the car or show off around my local area.. I'll pick my time and place to do so and always in MY mind is to minimise impact to the local people.

If i'm labled a hoon... So be it.. My skin's tough.. my head's tougher and i'm not worried.. ( And I'm not saying your calling me a hoon... Not aiming at you at all in this post!) But i would like all the goodie goodies to learn to live and let live.. Give people a bit of common courtesy and cut people a little slack.

Having said this I dont condone skids/unneeded noise etc etc in ANYONES area ( I suffer from the local hoons too...), but when it happens i just let it be and hope that someone will be as lenient when I'm the one causing "concern" to them one day.

Cheers
/End Rant...

I was thinking like the quote tags, but instead of saying quote like this:

Heath is the bomb

It would say "rant" etc. I strongly doubt it's possible... = /

On second thoughts, we could merely have some cans of worms exploding

I have a shop owner down the road who don't do any of that. He uses to smoke the street in front of his own shop. Then every night, cars would turn up and on the way out it would be full noise. Some real quick cars. Cops didn't give a f@#k, they were alway in the back of this shop. So i told one cop i would put his head on the front of the paper when someone dies, that worked. He hated that. I give it to his cop, they don't like the paper work. Then my wife step out in front of a 10second mazda has he launched it. I heard 50000revs from inside my house then nothing. I looked out the window and saw this rx3 rolling, then seen the wife in the middle of the road and wouldn't move. The bloke had to use reverse. I thought it broke. Then she give it to the shop keeper. Fixed the noise, they drive slow now, it kills them. The cops are the problem, their are none and don't care, too busy.

Lakeside: Unfortunately i know that my opinions are in the minority alot of the time and it sux. Ive had to deal with some persistant dickheads at my Engine Builder's workshop area too. Enough really is enough at times!!

If EVERYONE learnt to live and let live a little then i think this whole world would be a better place..

To your wife.. I say Congratulations! I'm glad it worked out for the best and she wasnt hurt ( as was the possibility).. Hopefully people will wake up to themselves one day! ( I aint holding my breath!!)

Good man :spoton:

This is exactly what I do as well.
Particularly working at a hospital on shift work I come and go for all sorts of whacked out shift hours, generally when most people are asleep.

As for the rest; I don't have a problem with loud exhausts as long they aren't deliberately using a low gear and revving/accelerating unecessarily (particularly between 2300 - 0630 hrs). If a loud v8 or ricer is at least TRYING to keep the noise level down by light acceleration and a high gear then fair enough, I have no gripes - the person is doing their best to not shit on their fellow neighbours while still 'doing their thing' with the car.

There's a harley across the road from me that shits me to tears, way too loud, and doesn't even try to take it gently when leaving, and idles it for years to warm it up (which sounds liek the bastard of a thing is idling next to my bed - let alone when it takes off).

V8's and ricerswith loud exhausts can still keep the noise level reasonable or at least be heard to be trying, but those bgucking c#$%ts of mufflerless harleys need to have bricks thrown at their riders heads, rip the bike off the road, melt the fkn bike down, pour it into the ground and use em as a pubic toilet block foundation I say, then we'll see who's shitting on who.

Loki: what youve said is right mate..

Everyone can enjoy themselves with respect to others... I understand everyone has RIGHTS... but so do EVERYONE ( does everyone get my meaning there???)...

If you make an EFFORT to do the right thing... most people will appreciate it... But i know there will still be that minority who are just so bitter and twisted that they get off on Ruining everyone's fun!

:finger: to them i say!

Pwahh, calm down I say, harley riders arnt the best of people and also th...
awww screw it, you guys are right, it's real annoying, cause all of my neighbours have 2 stroke motorbikes and they fire them up early in the morning before they go to the track. We arnt pesky neighbours and b!tch and moan, cause we to use loud machienary although we get over it and dont do it at late hours or early in the morning.

We also have alot of hoons who like blow off valves etc and like to show off, so nightly we can hear tyres screeching... although it's becoming less, because the kid across the road crashed his VL turbo...

As to that, live and let live. (As tiny noted)

Im guilty of having cars that are loud but I dont do burnouts or go nuts outside my house or anywhere near it,though when I leave home or get there early or late I try to make it as painless as possible for the neighbours & there have been no complaints in years.

True, dads motorbike is loud and when he starts it up he lets it warm up while he is putting his helmet and gloves on and then just rides it sensibly until it's warm enough

Yeah see that's fair enough.
There's the effort of trying to be polite :]

When I said the thing about melting their bikes down to foundations I was blood-boiling and ranting over what I really meant - the ones who aren't polite, with loud as hell bikes tearing up/down the street at odd hours rather than trying to be quiet (goes for V8's/Ricers as well :P)

Speaking of which, said bike only just came home 40 odd minutes ago, comes up the street under acceleration then rapidly brakes and downshifts (sounds like a car double declutching) right outfront my house and then pulls in.
