Your's is a bit difficult.
If you use a 17 tooth, it will make your speedo read faster than the car is going and might save you a fine here and there.

It would be closer with a blue drive gear in the trans and a 20 tooth driven gear in the cable but the speedo would be reading slower than the car is going.

I'd go the 17 with the 8 if it were me.

You would have to remove the extension housing to change the drive gear. You can do it in the car but a pain in the butt.

There is no 17 tooth gear. I have a very rare 18 tooth gear which is NOT for sale.

Now I might have to have a look at the drive gear on the T5. But I have a T5 (out of Vp commodore), 3.9:1 diff with 225/45/17 tyres, which by my calc is 634.3mm diameter.

Any idea on the speedo gear needed?

At the moment the speedo is reading 20km/h faster than im actually going, roughfly.

From memory the drive gear was white (8 tooth)

Thanks Ryan

hey fellas, my VC commodore has an m20 and was previously a 3.36 ratio salsy...

now 3.45 borgy and has 225/50 R16 tyres

currently I assume that the 16" wheels might be slighlty larger in diameter than the original tyres, and with the slightly shorter rear ratio it may pretty much cancel each other out, otherwise the cars going slower than the speedo says at the moment. is my assumption correct?

the above isnt enough to really worry me but I am about to change to a 3.08 ratio due to driving an hour on the highway each way to work every day, to help with economy, and engine noise etc and would like the speedo to be as close as possible to avoid any fines.

I dunno what drive gear I would have but I would like to know what would be the best driven to use with the M20 box 225/50 R16 tyres and 3.08 diff

I cannot buy different toothed driven gears for the T5. I need to get an instrument guy to make up a step down box for around $350 :(. I might just leave it a while.
