not the easiest site to navigate initially, took about 1/2 an hour to work out how to find what I was looking for, "search by description" is easy , the section below that "browse by model" took a while to master and was a bit confusing as you have to work out what to do with the boxes that need the plus or minus ticked and this was also a bit frustrating to begin with as there is no explaination on how to use this function. Also wondering why the initial page asks for the State you live in if all your doing is browsing the site.

so IMPO it is a hard site to navigate compared to some others I've seen

I get to Rare Spares via the Auto One page.. They are the closest Rare Spares outlet to me anyway. I find their site easy to navigate. Les, no doubt you have seen how theirs works?

This is how I have set my browser to make it easy for me.
http://www.autoone.com.au/onlineshops/
SelectShop.asp?state=Australian%20Capital%20Territory

When I open it it is already set for the ACT

Edit: Infact I was checking it out earlier today, I need a new battery tray $45.06 scared me a tad for a bit of plastic but I need one as mine is falling apart.

Cheers
Herne

Sorry Les.
Have to say the Rare Spares website is really annoying to navigate.
Good to see you are listening though.

It is prob more me Les, maybe coz I am not all that technically minded and know correct names for things.
Eg, I broke my knob/handle/round balck thing on my window winder, went lookin for one, didnt find it under knob or even handle for that matter??? I eventually found and ordered one, so all is not too bad. Found it under doors or windows, cant recall now, but took about 5-6 clicks after scrolling thru list before gaining the correct section. Fairly minor and maybe not a good example ... and my lack of correct terminology maybe.

I am familiar with the site and find it easy to use so we really need people to give us more specific suggestions and examples of how hard they find it to navigate
Thanks Les

All,
I've bumped this back up.

the Rares site has been tweaked of late and all items will soon have pics attached.
If anyone can have a look and let us know where it still has issues it will help them no end.

The search function appears to work better than it used to I've noticed.
ATM though if you just go to www.rarespares.net.au you do not get the site.......even though the rest of the site is live........

Grant..

I don't understand the need for everything to be animated and flashy, I'd much rather a more functional (and faster) site. Having said that at least it works, the old one was painful to say the least when all the category browsing was broken.

edit: I'm assuming the NZ online shopping area will see the same changes at some stage soon...?

Hi
I have some feedback about the site setup and delivery when dealing with your compony.
Found the website slightly hard to use when looking for a gauge decal set yellow to suit LX torana. Had to use the white face part number and then try using close part numbers to find it.
Also i place an online order for the decal set then after 4 days with no contact apart to say order has been placed i have to ring the Rare Spares store to find out whats happening with my order (as store who emailed me is to buzy to tell me) and to find out when payment can be deducted from my bank account then find out it will still take another week to send (which im paying postage for).

Ill give you an example of dealing with Harrop Engineering.
I place an online order for A9X steering arms, Harrop deducts money from my account straight away, Item is sent that day (or first thing next day after order) Item turns up 2,3 days later im happy.

I dont expect stuff to be sent next day but im sure you could get the system to run alittle faster, 4,5 days would be great considering im paying postage and interstate postage can be done in 2 days. And comunication on said item improved.

Have a look at http://www.summitracing.com/

This would have to be one of the easyest to navigate sites i've ever been on. And everything is porcessed immediately and you usually havve your order in your hands in about
7-10 working days

Thats why i spend so much money there, cause its easy and quick. A lot of Australian sites can learn a bit from them.

One specific gripe with the rares site, i put a few things in my cart a while ago to havve a think about, came back about four hours later to look for some more stuff i decided i wanted, and my cart had emptied itself.

Thats bs, and due to that and not being bothered to spend two hours trolling through the site to find the stuff i wanted again i still havnt placed that particular order.

Summit site keeps things in your cart indefinitely, i can put something in there now and log back on in six months time and it will still be there.

Cheers.

Had the same problem Neils LX,with the sydney store, place an order,no replies at all, nothing happened for 2 weeks, then money is finally withdrawn, then item turns up,a small amount of feedback is all that is needed, like, hi craig your order is being processed, and you should receive in 2 weeks which really is SLOW,even telstra took 5 days to send something.

A few more people are needed on the internet side of things.

The problem is not RARE SPARES,its the outlets which are a franchise, these people would be nothing without the rights to sell the RSP products.

Recently dealt with WADE cams and they were fantastic, australian and very good with return emails.

Maybe Joe and Les can enlighten us, but I thought all internet orders went through Melbourne?

They don,t Grant,

Had to get in contact with one of our RSP members to move the sydney store along, which was done for me,and appreciated how profesional the guys were.

It sounds as nothing has changed if Neils LX used same store.
