LC GTR Stripes ??

Hi There,

Just wondering if someone can confirm whether LC GTR stripes where ever any
other colour than black ? . My LC GTR was originally Verdoro Green which on the
HT Monaro's had Persian gold stripes.

Sorry if I asked this one before but I have conflicting info and I would like to know if making them gold would de-value the car.

some say black only , others say depends on cars paint colour.

Any Ideas ? :huh:

As far as I am aware they all were BLACK on LC GTR Toranas. Why not use vinyl tape. It can be removed and/or replaced at will.

do a custom in the gold is would look wicked!

i am sure barry can get the vinyl stripes if you ask him nice he may do a custom
gold set for you!

Actually Barry did look into gold vinyl but it was going to be expensive because it's a bit of a one of.

One has to wonder , even though my car could have had black stripes from factory
(no indications left on the car) . What's to say the original owner did'nt order it with
Gold stripes. Holden has been known to have done special orders back then.

e.g
I spoke to one person who had an LX SLR5000 which he ordered without the SLR5000 sign writing on the sides.

I was under the impression that the gold WAS standard for the LC GTR in that colour, and only that colour - could be wrong though - maybe Dr. Terry can confirm

Yea ill second that too ,lcnewby,i did see one back in the late 70s with the gold stripes,and it was a green metalic colour.

The Persian Gold stripe was only on the dark Monaro, not the GTR.
All GTRs had black side stripes, but Rally Stripes were in a few colours - eg. Silver for darker cars could be optioned.

G'day All

This is a B & W pic of a Police LC GTR and although the colour is very dark, you can still see the side stripe that to me would appear to be black.

If it were silver or gold, it should show out more,
