I spoke to the owners brother who told me that the owner was aware that one wheel nut was missing and did not think it was important. It would appear that either the studs are too short or one has snapped. Hopefully someone on the forum knows the owner and can convince them to get it sorted ASAP.

No, although it did remind me of my hatch before I started on the latest rebuild. My hatch is not an SS either.
I took this photo of my hatch the day before I stripped it. With any luck it will be back on the road for next years run.
