I have a 1976 LX SLR 5000 which is papaya in colour. I've been told that they're quite rare. Strange as they pushed the colour of the car in their factory sales literature. I have an elderly gentleman helping me out but can't say until he gets back to me in a couple of weeks (says he has a source from GMH down in Melbourne). If anyone else can help me out that would be great.

Papaya is fairly rare in the SLR 5000,this color was more popular on the SS toranas.

Don't fully understand what the question is. There is a thread on here somewhere where somebody asked for a picture of a Papaya LX SL/R 5000. Maybe try the Search function.

Good question. Nobody really knows the answer to that. Maybe one day when we convert the microfiche onto a database we'll be able to work that one out.

every colour is "rare" these days, even the shit brown colours are "rare" , because they looked shit in the day (and still do) makes them "rare"?

a black slr5000 is what i call rare, papaya was fairly common, not as pop as mandarin red etc but there was a fair few litres of the stuff applied over the lx range.

I wouldn't count on that being the same vehicle... there is way too much progress on it.

Heath,I actually went to have a look at the car in person and it looks identical right down to the seat inserts. It looks like the guy has a bit of money and is just going sick on the resto. Its been over a month since this car sold so in that time with enough dollars behind you you can do a lot more than he has done especially if everything is getting done by pros,no disrespect to the current owner tho I think he has done a great job so far.I also think that this car got sold to N.S.W. so it sounds about right plus he mentions that he just bought it.But than again I could be wronG.My appologies for stealing the thread.

ah Larry, he has built a few Toranas, the green LX the blue LX with the leather trim and he had a yellow A9X. I believe his son had something to do with the building of the VC Brock Street machine updated.
