Commodore Hatchback! WTF?

The front was clearly VH. The sides were a little Torrie hatch like, the back looked like an old school Celica!
Anyone know of this car or seen it themselves? I wish I could have got a pic!

GMH looked into building it but beancounters decided to go with the WB and Camira but not the hatch due to cost.

Adayer sportif cars started life as VH SL/E 4.2 litre V8 commodores.
Then Dominion and International Automobiles(DIA) tore them apart ,cut and shut, threw away the four doors and quarter panels and rewelded and altered the body shells to accept panels from the two door German GM Opel Rekords.
Additions to this car: Deep pile carpet, front recaro seats, choice of leather or fabric, matched material to door trims and side panels,polished woodgrain to trims side panels and lower dash, grey felt to line roof and windsreen pillars,momo steering wheel with dia centre, black cars with gold pin stripe,front spoiler, steel reinforced fibreglass front and rear bars,colour keyed slatted grills, rear deck spoiler, louver, roh wheels 6 by 14, goodyear cr70h14 tyres, Adayer embossed panel between tail lights, dual halogen head lights, power steer, duel exhaust, Pioneer sterio, four wheel disc brakes, tinted glass, air con. Price was $27300 manual and $28200 automatic.

I remember saying to myself at first, "That's a crazy VH hatch"..... so front was def VH, but I recall clear indicator lights, a-la VK.... but that magazine car could have had them changed easily. Prob was that mag car. Sounded really sweet I might add!! :-)

This is likely what you saw;

The original Brock Monza is owned by a forum member Monza1. I am sure Phil will provide more info when he sees your post.
I agree it's a shame they didn't make that as a production model though. Close, but didn't get there.

There are a number more non-HDT ones floating about though.

Last time I saw Phil's car was the carshow they had at the Holden Dealership in Campbelltown.
There are a number more non-HDT ones floating about though.
Grant..
Paul Wakeling (of Paul Wakeling Holden) bought it off Brock in 1985. I was fortunate to be the buyer when Paul sold it in 2005.
There were thousands of Monzas in the UK/Europe, and as Grant has said, a number have found their way to Australia. It is a shame they weren't sold here when new, either though Holden or HDT.

It may have been up in QLD at some stage but when this one was in AMC it was based in Victoria and owned by Shawn Riddell in who had owned it for 3 years. he knows little of its history.
Im sure that it has been for sale in since and is now in NSW but not sure if Shawn still owns it.
