The survivors must all now be hiding in sheds like mine does. Everytime I go to a show or event I make a point of looking for L31 plated cars and they are almost non existent. Most are former 6cyl jobs with the occasional L32 hidden here and there.

i still have the rego papers from my l31 m21 g?? absynth ss. wish i still had the car.

No, GMH built them for themselves and for Toyota in the Dandenong assembly plant up to mid 1996 including the body styles GMH didn't use. Toyota built the Apollos.

At least they had a ute you could buy! Those of us that wouldn't buy a Ford had to buy secondhand WB's after early 1985.

nissan offered a better warrenty deal than fraurd ...go figure?
but yeah heard of one or two people that brought them and changed badges back to fails cause of peer presure
that's my useless bit of trivia for the day :)

Well it was sunny today so I took the hatch out to do errands in. Admiring looks aplenty even from the pensioners who usually frown at anything loud. So now at least its left the shed twice this month!

I've seen so many Toranas rusting away in scrapyards and paddocks its a wonder there's any left at all. Even back in the mid 80s I remember a mate was rebuilding a hatch and it had rust in the C pillar and it was less than 10 years old!

^^Agree. I bought my 2/76 LX SL hatch in 1986/7 and it was rusty in the C pillars, rear hatch rubber and under the bonnet hinges. They were always rusty in wrecking yards, and 4cyl cars were a dime a dozen. Hatchback doors were expensive even then though. UC's were basically free and some were 6-7 years old!

I owned two 1977 LX SS L31,M21 Hatchback's back in the 1980's to 1990's, but there was a few L31 SS Hatch's around Tassy,so you would think there be a few thousand SS L31 Hatch's all around Australia, not many Factory Black SS L31 ones, cause i searched for a few years and couldent find one back in the 1980's,had to buy one and paint it Black.
