Could be very difficult finding a shop that does acrliyc paint jobs these days. Almost all will only do 2pac. As stated in some previous posts by others , invest in some good quality gear (& time) & have a go yourself.

I am thinking that many backyarders would spray acrylic due to the toxic nature of 2 pak.

I have friends here in Canberra that spray cars in thier garages etc, one of them in particular is very good and highly qualified as both spray painter and a panel beater. He prefers to work for himself and doesn't want high overheads, he gets a lot of the Vintage and Veteran cars, no 2 pak there!
So ask around, I am sure you will find a competant one if you look hard enough.

what is the process of painting acr. urself? What gear do i need? What layers and how many of them do i need to do?

Im a young fellow with a canary yellow UC and some chips have appeared and it kills me inside. Iv got a huge double garage that is begging for a respray set-up and am looking into it not just for fun.. but to bring the 78 weapon back to tear up the streets.

If anyone could sorta gimme an overview that would be muchly appreciated.

Also finally, does any one know of a site where i can choose different paint colors and purchase them... or is there a shop (i liv in brisbane) where it is cheaper to do so.

Thanx heaps guys
and keep up the awesome work

if you go to your local Auto paint shop and tell them what you want to do, they should point you in the right direction, I sprayed my car my self in 2k and couldnt be happier!

Acrylic is labour intensive, so even if you found a shop that can do it, I doubt that you'd afford the labour.

CanaryUC, just go to the auto paint shop, and get them to colour match a small bottle of touch up paint for your car. Stone chips ain't worth the hassle of totally redoing it till it is really far gone. Touch up, light sand, touch up, light sand, touch up, etc. till it's filled and matching the level of adjacent paint. Go down the grades of sandpaper all the way to 2000, then polish it up. Be careful with sandpaper and edges or you'll be down to primer in no time, try a bit of masking tape on any edges till you get down to the polish.

makka, seriously, if you offered, you could make a tidy earner on the side mate. Your car is fantastic for a 'backyarder'.
From what I've seen so far at the drag day, it should look a million bucks when polished!
