Ok now something for the observant among you.

Anyone pick some significance in the street numbers?

The house numbers are engine sizes aren't they?

I watched this movie randomly last year when it came on foxtel. I didnt mind it, the storyline dwindled a little but the cars were sick. BroomBroom.

I remember seeing the movie at Chullora Twin Drive In...............FJ'S were free entry !!

Just watched again on youtube, when the FJ is rear ending the black Valiant (about 5 min into movie) the FJ has it's front bumper overriders fitted, however in the next scene when they pull over to put "P" plates on the front of the FJ the front bumper overriders are gone.

The scary thing about this movie is I was driving my torana and remember Bankstown Square and the fibro houses.

Those were the days, and yes I know I'm old.   :)

I was born in Bankstown and grew up in Punchbowl, it's how I remember it too. Especially the square.

I think 'Kevin' might now own a fruit and vege market in town here.

The owner looks just like him and is about the right age.

Is his name Paul?

Can't tell from the movie if the FJ's still got the grey motor or has had red motor upgrade but from the sound of it I'd say still grey? You can just see it's got twin strombergs, maybe triple. Impala style floor shift. Regardless I don't see it outdragging a HK Monaro in real life, even if Monaro only had a 307 in it.

Not sure on his name, will ask next time I'm in there.

Definitely sounds like a grey motor, FJs are very light so a hot grey might beat a sick 307.

Same here, that's how I remember Bankstown Square as a kid.

Riding on red rattler trains all you'd see is a few houses on big blocks of land spread out, just a few cars driving usually holden & archaic old blue buses.

Almost seemed like a country town for us when first moved into the area.

Ahhh the red rattlers.

On a rainy day I had to take a raincoat to wear inside the train.

And the smell and asbestos dust from the brakes.

Memories.

Gday Everyone,

I too love this movie and have watched it many times.  I grew up in Malvern Street Panania in the 70 and and when ever I think of Bankstown Square it s the way its shown here in the movie.

I see that your after the location of Kevins' house .  Using google earth and a few stills taken from the movie Ive found it.

His house is located on the corner or Charlton Street and Ashbury Ave , Yagoona.

His mate Bobs house is in the dead end of Frank Street, Mount Lewis

Hope this info helps

cheers

Bob

Kevin was pulled over by the cops at the radar trap at around 37-39 Roberts Road, Greenacre, right near Mayvic St heading south, when you see the italian bloke speaking to the cop you see a brown brick factory and a white factory next to it in the background. They are both still there, except that sometime between 1976 and now the brown brick building was built up upon and out a bit, so it doesn't have that stepped roof line anymore. If you look at the building you will see the difference in the top brick work.

He pulls over to put the plates on further back, then takes off again towards the intersection of Norfolk Road heading south.

17 Stretham Ave Picnic Point was Anne's house

10 Ashby Ave (cnr Charlton St) Yagoona was Kev's house

Looks to be 5 Frank Street Mount Lewis, was Bob's house, now in the dead end section but was open then.

Brockman Ave Revesby Heights in the dead-end section was Wendy's house from the last party in the movie

128 Greenacre Road, Greenacre was apparently the house that Kev pulled into the driveway of to hide from the cops.

The Caltex they fill up at is on the corner of Bold Street and Parramatta Road at Granville, with the Mobil on the opposite corner now a 7-11. They head into Big Chiefs and pick up Bob and then head out to Brickies.

Thats all I know.....haha

Keen eyes will notice the white LX sedan in the driveway of the Revesby Heights house, the guys are leaning on it. There was also a red LH-X SL/R at Brickies that the cops were looking over.

Also, All Model Auto Wreckers still exists, in Marigold Street, Milperra now. Not sure if it moved straight there from Canterbury Road but I'd say so.
