I was just wondering what everyone else paid for their insurance?? so if anyone who wanted to could post their make, mods and insurer plus the price they pay and their state, could be helpful to alot of other people. Could start an "insurance guide for torry owners." Im assuming the majority of people on here are with shannons.???.....
Cheers Chris.

I will be using Shannons for both of my Torries. They don't mind 40 year old farts like myself who have other vehicles as a daily driver.

Had a bit of a waffle on with my ma last nite and discovered that i only pay 300 dollars for my insurance... not 400, so its an even sweeter deal. if oyu dont want salvage rights then its like 90 dollars cheeper still. cheers, Chris

I pay $230 for $6,000 Agreed Value, Salvage Rights, Mags and Full Exhaust System. I am hoping to up my agreed value to around $7,000 - $8,000 with the amount i have spent on her in the last few months and what i am going to do to her in the next few months.

Cheers,
Mick

Hi guys, i'm actually with GIO/Suncorp but was only able to get 3rd party for $175 (not complaining about the price!). They said you were only allowed 3 engine mods, alloy wheels would not be covered. I rang them a fair while ago about putting my rb30 in and they said they wouldnt touch me after that. I'm definately checking up soon, plus they gave me a rating 1 to start with.

i got my Insurance for the HQ today..

$6000 Coverage
Full Comprehensive
450 Excess + 400 for me being under 25
Unlimited Mods
Unlimited KM's

All for only $238!

I am stoked, and to have full salvage rights its an extra $65

And also for poor people like me i can pay monthly installments, which works out to only cost me $5 more

Thank you so much whoever started this thread! You have saved me a lot of money. Also the people on the phone were very polite and easy to talk to

13 10 10 is the number!

Might have to get the torry under the policy as well!

I use torque underwriting but have been doing so since I was 13. They insure me for race conditions and give me salvage rights. I cannot tell you how much each car costs as it is a package and thus I have reached there limit that I can keep insuring cars and the moneys do not go up. They also do layup insurance (READ during building of the show car) against all manner of things. I will nto go to any other insurer, they have been fantastic!

Cheers

Was pretty stoked to hear that i helped some people out. After reading some things about insurance in another thread, i got a bit worried bout my insurance (due to mods etc) so i rang up and just as 253ToranaSS the people on the hpone are hell nice, and know what they are on about, not like the normal... "well thats not my department, or please hold" crap that you normally get fed. Turns out im sweet, told them about my new HPC coatd extractors, triple carbies and plans to upgrade my brakes and wheels, but thewy said it was all sweet. So its fair to say im fairly happy! aslong as i get my diff swap (commodore diff with rewelded mounts etc) engineered (only if required by law) im sweet. !! just thought id put in my two cents ... for like the 10th time in the thread i started...oops. HA

Totally agree with the customer service thing orangeLJ said, i was talking to them for about 20mins throwing all these "hypothetical questions" at her and she always had an answer or got her supervisor to double check. I dont think they really have prob with the mods from what she told me just when they are illegal or out weigh the value of the car is when it gets dicey. I upped my agreed value to $8,000, got salvage rights and told them about a few other things that may be happening and they were sweet as.

finally an honest insurer (well lets hope so) so this insurance only applies for cars which are 30yrs +? looks like i'll have to wait a couple years before i can insure the hatch properly.....till thenn i wont leave it anywhere un attended as its waaaaaayyyyyy underinsured now.....

thank god for this thread. good work

I went through Suncorp and got the 2 door LJ, 202, Stge 3 YT, extractors, exhaust, 465 and buckets and got it for $235.

2 Problems though.....

1 - Excess is $800 + $400 = $1200
2 - No Salvage Rights(They are negotiable with the assessor at the time)

Im in QLD so can't get GIO.

Does anyone in QLD get a better deal.

PS - Best thread EVER!!!!!

OrangeLJ FTW!!!!!

I am with Vigilins,

approx $310-340 p.a.(dont have papers with me)
Agreed value, Full comprehensive
Mods OK - as long as they know about them
Any age drivers (Excess increases depending on the age)

Suncorp wouldnt quote me about 3 months ago ????

Was with Shannons - reason for change was Vigilans offer roadside assist.

The only thing i have to clear up is, does the car have to be 30yrs old to classify??

Won't really affect me as mine 11/77 and thats about when i want it done by.

Thanks ryan

I just renewed the insurance on my 73 Bathurst xu-1 for 80K and it cost me just under $800.00 and you can pay monthly if you like...I have a 65% no claim and get salvage rights. I didn't bother shopping around as I'm happy. I had to laugh when I first rang to insure the car I spoke to a young fellow and told him what I had he had no idea what a 73 Bathurst was....I told him to go find someone over 50 as they would know what I have. Short time later he came back on the line and said no probs with 80K. It was really funny as he had no idea what an xu-1 was.
