I'll let you know in a week or so. Should be buying some new tyres.
Not much diversity in 13" 165s tho.

Why on earth do they make 175/60R14 but not anything in R13.
What the hell has 14 inch rims and tyres that small that are going to get tyres that are worth more than the car put on it?

Cheesecutters don't cut the excuse, be more R13 Barina's, Classic cars etc. that would want 4 tyres in R13 grrr.

I spent 21 years in the tyre industry and can tell you it's a very popular size in Japan. It's also one of the more common 60 profile sizes here in Australia.

I would pick the Michelin first and the Bridgestone second. Retreads would be third.

wat are the thoughts on nankang? my brother runs them on his celica and he said they'll last but they're not real smooth

Since I placed retreads ahead of them on the list...

I'm just super fussy about tyres. if you're on a tight budget, buy what you can afford. Generally, I only recommend 3 tyres. None of which are available in 13". So out of that bunch I would choose the Michelin and Bridgestone.

Had some nankangs on my ute , what absolute crap. Almost impossible to get em balanced they were that bad. No grip in the wet, not bad in the dry. The tyres are cheap and i wouyld not get them again. Thats my experience.

Hey Chopper, I'm in the market for for new rear tyres of size 265/50 R14. Do you know what the manufacturer options are? So far I'm limited to BF Goodrich.

Also for the front 245/50 R14 - similar story as the rear.

Thanks in advance.

dose a 225 on a sprintmaster fit under the lips on the rear of a lc. I have 235 and they fitted with room. Don't fit anymore due to fitting a standard diff. Can you buy a 225 anymore.

Black , round , hole about the middle........ that will do right ?

I see the Yokahama site still lists 235/50/13 as avail
I thought they were all gone but they still have it up in 352's

17's for me....... will make it alot easier to get what I want

The 3 common ones were BFG, Eagers and Yoko 352's.

The Yokohama site is reknown for listing tyres that aren't available in Australia.

The last tyre i was aware in 225/60R13 were the Egars. But maybe BFGoodrich do a Radial T/A in that size?

I think 225 is the widest you will fit on a LC/J standard.

They still make Bridgestone Eager S330 245/50/R14 and 265/50/R14's, but only those sizes and will do for a fair while. Pretty good grip in dry and wet for road use, of little use on the track.

^ Brain fade, that's in relation to A9X4dr's question.

215 is the widest allowed on a 5.5" wide rim
235 is the widest allowed on a 6" wide rim.

Yokohamah 502 's i think $120 a corner fitted and balanced. Drive well 205 60 R13 stick to the road good, seem to be wearing good. Not much selection is there and not many 14' Sprintmasters around to go up to 14's !!

not according to bridgestone
stopped making em about 18months ago
there is no stock of em in perth but there maybe leftover stock in the eastern states

yokohama never officially stopped selling em but (yokohama japan) has refused to make a batch of em for the last 5years

so it basicly leaves you with bf goodrich
that also goes for the 215/50 +235/50/13s

cheers tom

I bought a pair of new front S330 245/50/R14's just two months ago. They are still available, and the Bridgestone Tyre Centre told me that they will continue making those two sizes for the old beasts for a fair while yet, but only in 245's and 265's, as stated on their website.

I was under the perception that they weren't available as well, but I found that that is not the case.

Having said that, I'd love to find a more modern street/track tyre.

I think lakeside was asking in terms of clearance under the guards.

So what i meant was i think 225 is the widest you will fit under the guards without rolling the guards or tubbing. However you may have clerance issues on the front when turning.

The 235/50/13 hangs out to far now the 9inch has gone. Dose a 225/50/13 on a sprintmaster fit with the lips not bend back, rear not front

lakeside, when I brought my Sprintmasters off a bloke in the Trading Post, he had a LC coupe and he told me the widest tyres you will fit under a rear stock LC/J guard without rolling the guards on Sprintmasters was 225s

However this was back in 2002. So i can't garantee it mate :fool: Sorry mate. Do you have any mates with 225s on Sprintmasters? Maybe you can do a bolt up test.

Steve
