after some pictures of peoples blow through setups on a holden straight 6 (173,186,202 Etc) purchasing a set up at the moment and what to know what others have discovered and found out, also by listing the good and bad points to them. its to hopefully a setup i can run on my vk commodore track car, just to play around with. the engine in that is a 3.3 black. and the kit im purchasing includes an air-research T04.

Cheers Blake

wanna explain what your buying im quite interested.

looking to buy a setup myself, but even then i wouldn't mind making one myself rather than buying a kit.

theres a few forum members that are playing with turbos on 6's

Dont have power figures or quarter mile ET as it blew the diff, but it went ok for what it was

Spent less than $1500 all up.

If i was going to do something simmilar seriously instead of just a wank around like that i'd budget about 3k and do a few things differently.

Cheers.

ohh found it, thats awesome! definately have a look blake theres some good info in there.

somehow i have confidence to make my own manifold also, the only part that confused me was the wastegate placement.

what did you do for oil lines?

i to thought that the chines shit was the goods till a few weeks back.im not blaming anything as yet actually who really cares but i will add to the grenade thread that petes hr cracked the head, he still raced it it went 12.0 on 5 slugs. then a new head was hogged out think dj had something to doi with donating a head then finaly it got going again then...............aparently it turned the tires like never before promptly blew the carb hat gasket out and broke a piston . so what i will say is if you are building a budget mota with budget gates and the like be prepaired to pick the eng up in bits.

Cheers

Yep just keep in mind guys that was all done with basically no budget and a very short time frame, its pretty dodgy lol.

But yeah basic ideas i think are there??

Cheers.

haha seems like the turbo has to be taken seriously with the 202. thats of course if you dont mind picking up the broken bits haha.

i think they both look pretty good, all the basic principles are there. dont mean to jack your thread blake but im hoping this will give you an idea as well!

what did you do for the oil lines bomber?

12.0 is still a great run, gee thats almost the 11 bracket which is pretty darn good!

Just used some 5/8" high temp hydraulic hose for the return and got a 3ft lengh of -4 summit brand braided hose and two summit brand hose ends.

Whole oil feed setup including T pieces lines clamps for the return line etc cost me like $35.

I havnt been on in ages.
