Following the recent interest in HK projects, i thought i might add a build i'm helping with.

Posted Image

The car is a logbooked NC racer ex SA, and is a HK Monaro, Warwick Yellow by the plates.

Posted Image

The plan is to do a semi resto, cleaning the car up after many tears of hard racing, and set it up for some club track work and sunday car cruising.

Comments are welcome.

hey a9x my favourite car the hk gts monaro nice colour aswell warwick yellow wish mine was this colour lol and its got black trim very early build with the tag in the centre of the firewall was it an original 6cyl or 8cyl as you have to know what your looking at to pick it as holdens never distinguished by the plates for the hk weather it was a 6cyl or 8cyl

yee haa,

been waiting for this thread A9X,fully sick my favorite also.

how to tell if v8 or 6,is first look in boot,in this dusty pic, you can see a raised section in the floor pan, behind back seat, this is the body for the large 10 bolt diff,

BUT the early 307 cars had banjo diffs, and the floor pan will be flat here, the fuel tank also follows the floor pan aswell,so there is different tanks.

anyways the only way to tell a V8 car with the flat floor is the hole in firewall for speedo cable, powerglide and saganaw, there is a pic for you to look for, only the early HK,S had a banjo behind the 307,later 307 hk,s were all 10 bolts.there are records that are closley kept that will expose anyone drilling that hole in 6 cylinder bodies, which will eventually be used to i.d cars in the future.

and then if you have the big diff pressing,a 4 speed car will have another pressing on the passanger side of tunnel,to accomodate the 4 speed linkages.

hope this helps a bit.

Thanks guys, should be good fun.

We are not sure on originality for 6 or 8, but believe 8 based on the central speedo hole.

Unfortunately the boot has been chopped up as has the tunnel so who knows :dontknow:

if you spot anything let me know. I'm not fussed, just happy to see a Monaro, and Warwick Yellow is the owners favourite.

Datto, some brake pics.

Block has Mexico cast into it, rear left top, not sure if that makes it a truck block??

It would be near impossible to make this car shit, especially as it does not have one of those poxy fraud third members.

Small block.'(gm) stickshift and Warwick Yellow.

You CANNOT POSSIBLY GO WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah ha, so I was correct with the diagnosis of Corvette calipers. The piston seals are leaking quite badly.

Can't wait until its yellow, the blue does not do it justice.

that is going to be one tough monaro,

seeings it has the speedo hole in that location,it would be a 307 auto with banjo diff, because the boot floor behind back seat is flat, all 307 manual cars had big diff.

but who cares, its a hk monaro and warrick yellow, with a heap of goodies, the sump is interesting.

carn,t help myself, here,s where mine is up to.
