Can't figure out if it's a something metallic and light rattling or pinging.
Nothing has changed on the car, but at idle and low revs I have the classic pinging sound (Tinny rapid tinkle sound - almost sounds like a screw rattling around on top of say your air filter with the engine running - Actually the speed of it varies occasionally, speeds up and slows down quickly almost disappears and then comes back ).
As soon as you bring the revs around 1500 it disappears completely and doesn't show it's ugly head again.
Here's the thing I don't get - nothing has changed on the engine (except I considered maybe it's the ULP instead of PULP for last few weeks since wallet is in for repairs) and it's not always there.
By not always there I mean - Let the engine cool down for awhile (say an hour or two) and start it up and I didn't notice it, as soon as I drove the next time I stopped I noticed it was back again.
As far as I can tell it sounds like the very front, but get underneath to hear if it's a loose exhaust bracket and it sounds like the back.
Temperature's are fine.
Going to put PULP in it when the ULP runs out on this tank and see if it makes any difference.
Would ULP or crap fuel cause pinging? or pinging to suddenly start occuring out of "nowhere"? Or could it be too rich/lean a mixture at the carby? Timing gone out?
Cheers
