I dropped in to see a mate. The next door neighbour, who I love talking to said he'd been cleaning under the house and found something I might be interested in. I thought oh, yeah, prolly some old EH parts. Before having a look he said, I don't want much for em, just $20. Well f&#k me, if he doesn't pull out a almost perfect set of SL/R hubcaps, including Holden centre caps.
I picked up my jaw off the ground and said, do you realise how much they are worth? He said, yes, but I just want somebody to have them that will appreciate em. Well I couldn't give him just $20, I said I gotta give you $40 minimum. Stoked!!!
Good things must come to those that wait.

I've seen zillions of them around the place on S and SL's.
Have I been been missing out on an easy cash in? joking
Even found perfect spotless trim for em in a chrome-trim bin at the wreckers as well.

Didn't realise they were worth that much since they didn't seem to be rare to me.
Might have to go plunderin' at the wreckers and start collecting em and selling em on ebay for a giant profit

It took me 6 months to piece together this set and at even greater expense..
The car that i was buying has fallen through..
Does not compute....
He goes by the name Jesus and steals hubcaps from cars
Oh Jesus can I borrow your crowbar?

Now I'm upset though - not long after I bought my hatchback I was taking a shortcut near the city to avoid our overly crowded Chapel St, and heard some horrible rattling noise in the street. Thought nothing of it at the time until we got home to find one of my SLR hubcaps had fallen off!!! BUGGER! My Dad had a spare one floating around, so I have a complete set once again at least, but still.....
Maybe I should chuck them on ebay...

Prolly never going to use them, but at least they are there if anybody ever wants to take Ole Yella back to original. I hope not. Probably only use them when/if I ever have to put the rego set of rims on the car. Looks pretty ordinary with black skinny rims.

$25-30 for an average one, upto $40-50 for a NOS one.
So $200 a set maybe for perfection......
Grant..
