Where the boot and bonnet hinges painted from factory? Was the bonnet latch painted? Was the bonnet catch painted? What colour if any were these items?

Car in question is a 75 LH SL/R 5000.

Missed the bonnet hinges^^^ :) as quoted above "zink covered stuff" I believe it should be with a mustard coloured painted springs.

There were cars with painted bonnet hinges but that only cropped up in the late LX's and it is a real mix amoung the A9X's whether hatch or taxi. I'm sure others will know better as to why?

Cheers

So were the bonnet catches (bonnnet/body) parts zinc plated also? Or should they be painted?

Hanra,

Check out this L34 on AMCS.... it shows the bonnet hinges nickel plated, with the springs painted yellow/ mustard.

It also shows the bonnet catch mechanism, and catch is zinc plated.

http://australianmusclecarsales.com.au/muscle/67609-lh-torana-slr-5000-l34

Hope this helps.

Its been nice seeing all of your questions and how meticulously/ thoroughly you are going about your build.

Thanks for the kind words mate! Appreciated. Im very new to the world of old Holdens (British cars previously) so Ive got a few questions to ask.... But I think in the long run, for the benefit of the forum, they will help everyone!

Im not going for full concours with this build, its just going to be a nice street car. But simple things like parts colours can make all the difference in the overall finish of a car!

I will book mark that link, thanks a lot for that tip!

What colour should the rear view mirror mount be?

What colour should the sunvisor mounts be?

What colour should the windscreen washer jets be?

Thanks.

I was told the mustard colour of the bonnet springs was 'Yellow Ochre" http://www.goldenpai...st/mixguide.php Not sure if it's exactly right, but it is what I painted mine...

What company did you use to do this???

I would assume its the same stuff for the bonnet hinges/catch and latch?

I got my zinc plating done at http://www.alburyele...platers.com.au/ I found them quite inexpensive and good quality.... I just sent it via courier and they returned once it was finished...

If memory serves me correctly, the hinges cost $40 (Mind you, I got $1,200 of Show Chroming at the same time...)

This lot cost around $100

The best part, they don't even require you to dismantle the items first like the hinges and catches...

Cheers

By chance I went to the local brake shop to get some brake lines re-made, and he mentioned that they Zinc plate there!!!! So pretty stoked about that, saves packing and freighting down south!
