I think we need to get the footage down on disc b4 it gets unobtainium, living in the past i know but it seems
artificial with all the hi tech stuff now, computers tuning on the run and all the fancy telemetry, dataloging all well and good.
Goin back to the old days if it was not race ready on the day you didnt make it,nothin rong with with the tech stuff, just too
much of it,test it ,tune it,race it,then work out what needs doin for the next race, just my opinion.

That would be Ian (Pete) Geoghegan, Norm Beechey, Alan Jones (not Bond) & Allan Moffat.

I'd like to see this in print, I can't believe that they could leave P Brock out of a list of the top 50 Australian touring car drivers.

He's in the list Dr Terry, just not in the top 5. (based on what Rob 5000 has said above).

I don't know of anyone who has done what he did, and it wasn't all in factory cars as many doubters suggest.

In terms of fan base he would be number 1 without a doubt.

Might be opening a can of worms here , but does anyone know the fate of Brockies 75 bathurst winning L34

I ask because I made some serious enquires about this car when it was advertised many years ago I think it was in unique cars ? through Hamiltons Porsche

I still have kicking around somewhere a faxed copy of its cams log books . BUT . I have since heard that It could be right as the original car hit a tree. anyone ?

Hi devil
Have a read of this thread
Post #33 explains a lot and i presume L34#1 is the car you are chasing
I may be wrong but it is a good read anyway

Well I have just finished watching the complete 79 race very enjoyable it was too, Peter Williamson is my new hero, the first race driver to do in car live commentary I now have 80 to 87 to watch as well. I have say a big thanks you to vbvbvbo88 for loaning them to me and I have been copying them as fast as I can but 31 DVD is a lot of coping. but the best news I have heard form a very reliable source, Channel seven did not throw out all their old footage and late 2012 will be releasing complete races on DVD starting in the 60s and right through all the 70s races of Bathurst including Hardies hero's' and Sanddown

Saw the highlights for it on Peter Brock: Nine Times a Champion. Some cool cars in it. Allan Moffat complaining something shocking on every RET.

Brocks 75 L34 was written off many years ago, converted back to a road car and backed into a tree. The car Hamilton had for sale was the HDT Brock car.

That really is good news. I'm pretty keen to see the 70 - 74 races with the XU-1s.

i am extremely thankful that we have had an evolutiion in motorsport and that it gives me a lot of pleasure to take my 12 year old son to bathurst this year fof his 13th birthday. i am very grateful that he was born on the bathurst weekend
and being in perth it took me 40 years to get there for my first. i,d go every year if i could. i dont give a shit whats racing, it distresses me that he will be 13 and he,s never ridden in my A9X HATCHBACK but by god he knows what it is.
this will be my 6th and his 5th. I LOVE MY SON , I LOVE MY CAR.

I hope that source is reliable because I was told by another very reliable source in channel 7 that channel 7 destroyed the complete races many years ago and that Chevron only ever got bits of it which they put onto video years ago.
The copies people have been selling were acquired from the national film archives.
The sam person also told me Amaroo Park had copies of every single event ever run there, however it was poorly stoored in a brick shed and the tapes destroyed. What was retrievable was acquired by Chevron, but 99% of it was unusable.

I too have heard, many times that channel 7 threw all their stock footage into a land full, and it may well be true that they had a clean up and got rid of multiple copies etc, in any case my source has told me that they still have all the early original footage and will be releasing it the next year or so. I will not say who told me this on here, but they certainly are in a position to know these things and I would usually trust them above any other source, but I guess time will be the proof.

The copies of complete races that I have been given look to have been dubbed off VHS, I would imagine film archive stock would have been better condition then what I am watching.

So does this car still exist
are you saying it was 1st writen off then turned into a road car then backed into a tree
I was told later that it couldnt have been the car as it was written off
or at the time of sale did hamiltons have a repaired car ? (was in bits )

sorry just trying to get my head around this

Devil as i said above the car Hamilton had for sale was Brocks HDT car. The 75 car was not a HDT car, it was converted toa road car and later written off

Ah that might explain my confusion
I saw the car advertised in unique cars i think .but it was advertised as the Bathurst winning 75 car-was still yellow
still have a copy of its cams log books somewhere
think I'm also mixing up the HDT part
