I've been really enjoying the build threads. So I thought I'd contribute and add a recent one of mine.

Didn't have too much room at the time, so this one got pushed out...

An this one took its place...

Couldn't decide what to do with it, so I went down to Canberra Summernats for a few days and developed a plan....

Not sure i've attached the photos correctly so I'll post this n have a look.

Not sure what i'm doing wiyh the photos...seem to be getting up there so I'll continue..

The plan began an I started collecting panel n stuff...

I flogged off the wb stato front and pulled the vn motor (put that aside for a mates project). And did a little cutting...

I jacked up the body and rolled out the chassis, which was sprayed. Added a nine inch , sprayed the bottom of the van...

I wished I had a rotissery. Everybody knows laying on your back with a scraper is no fun!

Still the results were ok...

Thanks there Lee.

The running gear is a vt motor I already had along with the TH700, all nice and smooth for cruising.
This was the donk. I pulled it from a HZ tonner which I subsequently flogged off...

As far as the rest goes, I collected & readied bits n pieces...

Some of the bits even got added to the shell..

The Qie sandman was always one of my favorites. So that was the theme but i'd only ever restore a sandman proper. At least with this van I had free reign...

So I decided 2 seats weren't enough...

About this time I got sidetracked and the original vn motor from yhe van found a new home in my mates Qie..

Along with a spare diff I had..

We toiled together in close proximity for a while...

I'll post these and try and upload some more tonight. cheers

A little more of the build...

I cleaned up the inside...

And prepared some panels for primer...

Pulled some seats from my other panno...

Got some wheels together. 15x7 pontiac rallyeII, with some real nice billet stainless centres I picked up from a guy in SA.

I wanted paint everywhere so...

Once I got as far as I could alone, I took it to a mates panel shop an we worked on it together for a week...(Terry's an old car fiend from way back drop us a pm if anyone needs paint in the Pitt Town area, nw sydney)

When happy, we loaded it in the booth...

Farrk...what have we done?!!

Too late now...

Give me 5 I'll post some more. cheers

So is this a WB with HQ front sheetmetal?

If so....nice move. The HQ sheetmetal is by far the nicest choice(in my opinion, anyway)

Great colour,too.Loveit.

Cheers. Yeah this is a WB with HQ front. I was keen on a HQ shell but couldn't get hold of one.
The WB does have some benefits.

I'll throw up a few more photos.

Great van Scott. :clappin:

I can see a big "love heart" archway being installed as per 1970's with some crushed velour and shag pile carpet.

And don't forget the classic rear window sticker, "If this van is rockin don't bother knockin."

Cheers Mick.

Thanks for the positive feedbak Mick, Lee n shadow.

As much as I dream of 3ft shagg, simple n black for practicality an easy access to the fold away rear seat. I'm sure i'll find a way to cheeze it up a bit tho.
Maybe some chick with a whip, riding a dragon on the side...

heres a couple of shaby photos to give an idea of inside.

cheers \m/

I can see some mod's happening here.

Plywood on the walls(getting ready for the shag pile?), 6 x 9" speakers in the back, (maybe a tv?).

And don't forgot the archway -you know you want one :stirpot:

Hey there mr quag. Seats are older style Recaros. I used original holden bases and welded on some cross bars that bolt directly to the Recaros.
Can't say its legal, but sturdy it is....

Or are you referring to back seat? its an 1989 nissan patrol rear fold-up seat. Engineer gave me dimensions for plates & captive nuts to be welded to
underfloor. Seat folds flat then up again to leave an empty cargo space... cheers \m/

Heya Sting, yeah, you wouldn't recognise it now, but the "4x2" is still on the car...

I shaped it and had it chromed so now you could never tell its not metal!Posted Image\m/

Thanks Graham. I painted it almost 2 years ago now & its still not on the road. I hope that will change soon...
I'm very keen to start on my hatchback soon also. Maybe I'll cruise down towing the torana which I can leave with you for some serious paint removal...

cheers, Scott \m/
