CAN ANY ONE TELL ME IF IT'S ILLEGAL TO CUT THE FRONT OF A 4 DOOR LJ & WELD BACK ON A 2 DOOR

I THINK THEY CALL THIS A CUT & TUCK BUT I'M NOT SURE

REASON FOR THIS IS A BENT CHASSIS RAIL, RUSTY PLENUM & RUSTED OUT LEFT DOOR PILLAR

WOULD CUT THROUGH FLOOR & UPRIGHTS OF FRONT WINDSCREEN

I KNOW I CAN RE STRAIGHTEN THE RAIL AS IT'S NOT TO BAD BUT THE EXTRA WORK IN THE RUST HAS LED TO THIS QUESTION

HAS ANYONE DONE THIS B4 AS ANY SUGGESTION WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Darren,
A point of ettitic, upper case means you are shouting.
Its called a cut and shunt.
Its not that easy, ie allignment ,welding, and overlaps of joints for strength, and all to be straight.
What do you get, a four door front on a two door back, hard to sell.
Body number and adr tag say its a four door.
You can't describe it as any thing other, because that is illegal.

i believe it is illegal to Cut and Shut cars these days. Also your Insurance company could wipe you if your car was found to be a cut & shut. Something about not being strong enough and have been cases of cut & shut cars splitting in two in major accidents. (Probably back yard jobs for sure)

Why bother it's a buyers market u should be able to pick up a 2 door for a reasonable price...... Or get a 4cyl 2 door and change it, would be far easier...

Why not just keep it as a 4 door and pull chassis strait and fix rust,at least the car is as it was made.
Cut and shut not a good idea, its bad enough fixing one that has rust and bent stuff, let alone cutting 2 up
to make one.Holden went to a lot of trouble to get those windscreen pillars small and strong to minimize blind
spot,dont chop em,ever.
