What did Harrop's "Howler" weigh?

I would say it would have been close to standard weight [1000kg] as when I saw it, the car had all steel panels and no apparent weight reduction other than the bumpers and interior mats removed. the diff may have added some weight. I am sure it raced in B/MP which was a weight to capacity class in which all the other red powered fj's raced in

Harrop has never stated (to my knowledge) how much the car weighed, AMC mag asked him this question and the response was err ahh never weighed it.
to be in B/MP @ 208 ci, it would have to weigh about 1800lb's.

Yes he did mate he held the aspro record and his brother joe Borg rip held the blown record. Mick has two engines one is a red with triple 2inch su's runs 9.8 the other is a duggan headed red with mechanical injection I think it runs 9.0. He's a cool old dude who I enjoyed listening to drag racing story's from the 70s working along side him.

I know the guy who ended up with the howler and it was rusting away in his back yard. I cant think of his name right now but he was a good friend of John Bently. My first race car had the 10 bolt chev rear end out of the Howler, that's how I know who had it. It kept breaking so I replaced it with a 9".

I will try to get his name.

      Rod.
