How many Automatics?

G'day All,
Just anybody know exactly how many LX SLR 5000's automatics left the factory.

Would not know exactly how many but there hasn't been a lot as it wasn't desireable option for a preformance car.I,ve only seen a handfull of these cars myself.

Yes very few to the point that many people thought you could only get them in 4spd. Auto was the option. Keep in mind the auto added extra cost to the sedan which was the base entry for the range. The hatch was dearer again, but was also 4spd standard and auto optional. The auto was popular in the 5.0L hatch though. Perhaps the market wasnt as price sensitive for these buyers. So given the rarity 30 years ago i guess there would be very few left. I guess that whether you change it back to auto or not you have the privilage of knowing thats how it left the factory :D

I sometimes wonder if NZ got a lot of Automatics optioned 5000's. A lot of people over here say that they were quite common back in the day, which is funny as it is you guys with all the long straight roads.

One thing is for sure, there were a lot more LX 5000's optioned with auto than LH.

I wonder why that is? Was there more of a demand from the buying public when the LX was released?
