Thanks for the picture! That sure is an easy angle to see what it takes..
I do have a drop tank, so just would have to watch how much I can get into the rail along the back corner area I suppose. I guess moving the shock would be a given as well?
I've got a good welder and not afraid to Posted Image and Posted Image so one of these days when I get some other stuff done, might be the next step for the car!
And the 315's seemed to fill it out pretty well as it was..just was touching that rear section of rail.

Had taken a few pics, but forgot to change the resolution when I did, so they are pretty small, ha ha.. (some other ones with the tire out of the way as well. Plus comparing the 315's to my 265's...

TerrA LX those where the second set of rims that I had on the SS back in about 1980. From memory we called them Magnums and I had 14x8 and 14x7 with good old BFG Radial TA's (265/245 combo). Memories and ownership of them and Hotwires. Back then 15' rims where the 20" rims of the era. The Lamborghini Countach had 15's in a 345/35/15 that was the monster tyre at the time.

Jeff very interesting you got some good stuff going on. Kludos for being so far from the Torana's homeland and yet thru innovation and adaption loading it full of goodies. Be nice to see a down shot over the flare to show how far out you sat the 315. I have not had to move the shocks for a 315 but the 355's need the remodel on the chassis as shown (along with shock relocation). All guards are heavily cut away and reshaped for max tyre clearance including shaping the lip of the flare (with added strengthening). You can load two OS big boys in the back with no scraping. With the low rear angle its hard to see the positioning. What is your max flare to flare width? Can't remember the measurement off the top of my head but I think it was around 73" - 74". I will check that as they are factory fitted genuine GMH A9X flares not reproductions or copies.

Not sure on your tyre spec but I take it you use a 35 not a 40 profile in the 265?

Using a 265/35 gives you a 25.3" high vs 26.3" high for a 265/40 profile. The 315 are 25.7" high the 355's are 25.9" high. Wait till you got the 355s, you will have that cutting wheel on the grinder going flat out .....I will make them fit ..... LOL :lol:

Yes, mine are 265/35-18 now...and forgot to get a down shot of the tire/flare with the 315's on there, but basically the edge of the sidewall was flush with the outside edge of the flare. That is with the tire just sitting against the rail on the inside. Still had room to the shock so don't doubt with trimming the rail I couldn't fit something similar in size under there! The 355's would just be unreal looking looking under there, especially from behind!

And I don't mind cutting away the 1/4 as much as needed of course..there is still some meat under there that could go as it sits as well. Will have to measure the overall width from flare to flare, not sure off hand what it is. My flares are sort of an oddball as it is, sort of part sedan (with how far down they come in the front) but part hatch of course being one piece. Could always get the fiberglass out and widen them another little bit and not look out of proportion, but trimming the rail is a no brainer for me to be able to do.
