wheel offsets back space

Edit : not sure if this has been posted but it helped me.

As the topic says here is a link to help you work out offsets, backspace and pcd's. this might give CHOPPER a break from repeating the same answers .

Hope this clears this up for a few people

That has been posted before. Be very carefull when using the Backspace to Offset Conversion Chart, as wheels with outers made of different materials will give different results. Normally the discrepancy should be less than 6 MM, but it needs to be kept in mind.

Agree the offset conversion chart makes no sense.

Yeah not sure if i would use the chart . The explanations of how to determine your offset and where backspace is measured from is handy for novices like me though.

The backspace chart assumes the rim lip is 1/2" thick. This is true for most aluminium alloy rims, but not for Simmons, rims with rolled steel outers and a handfull of others.

If you measure the offset to the bolt-up-face from the centre of the rim it avoids the confusion with backspace and different rim thickness.
