Alrighty, so inspired by the six banger nats and full of stupid ideas, i had one.

I have this

And this
Posted Image

Both just laying around doing nothing. I wanted to build a Volksrod with the VW, but only found out after i got it with no idea about anything to do with beetles that Superbugs (which mine is) have a maccy strut front end not beam like the earlyer ones so cant really be volksrodded. And the engine needs a build. Was siezed from sitting there with no carby on it (water inside). I freed it up but it has frOck all compression.

The engine is the engine i threw together for the grenade project, turbo'd 202.....Was running when i pulled it out of the car and although it could do with a lot more development it could basically be banged strait in and ran as is....

Should i combine the two (after i finish a few more important projects)????

Car owes me $100 engine owes me about $1200. Throw in a few bucks for sundry's and i could have a drag car that even though it wouldnt be overly fast it would probably do half track wheelstands for under 2k...........

Good idea or bad idea???

Cheers.

V6, I was toying with the idea of building the engine in the car, putting a little SC12 i have laying around on it, fixing a few things up and just cruising it for a while then selling it, but this new idea would be cheaper and funnerer.

Cheers.

The real question is, why hasnt it been done earlier?

Who cares how fast it goes, how fun would it be!

Robslxhatch, rear, and stock VW tranny. My superbug has the stronger type 2 gearbox in it already, guys are bolting SB chevs and the like up to them so it will do.

Brodo, no idea, but again buys are bolting chevs up to the things, and a chevy flywheel is bigger than a 202 one afaik. Also pretty sure you can buy a spool for them....

Mitch, honestly mate i only just thought of it about 20 minutes before starting this thread. I did run a tape measure over it ages ago to see if a Holden six would fit for shits and giggles but wanted it street registered at the time.....Have now decided street rego is over rated, frOck it, lets do something silly!!

Cheers everyone else.

PMSL Chris.

OK, dont get to excited guys, the LJ needs to be finished before im allowed to embark on anything like this, so dont expect anything to really happen for a while...

Although i just ran a tape measure over it, the engine will fit....Kinda...Will have to cut the rear out of the car to let the engine hang through about 200mm but apart from that she's sweet LOL.

Cheers.

Do a dirtbag (ala, kombi style) and streeeeetch the rear body work to cover it.

I vote torana first though, that thing definitely needs to hit the streets again!

I had a VW specialist as an account with a former employer. They had done several VN V6 conversions to early bugs. The engine fits in very nicely between the rails and of course is shorter than the 202. Just another option to consider.
