Lakeside has put up images of a JP block in a dak dak before that were taken in 1978, so it's nothing new.

RE: the Mac front end... Don't suppose you could slot/chop a LJ 202 X member in, The track is pretty close actually... 1320ish for LJ and 1310ish for a bug.... Make it easier to rod the front... Just a suggestion.

Kinda the whole point of the Idea Liam is making something quick and easy that although wont be overly fast will do good wheelstands lol.

Putting the engine in the front with a torana x member etc means i need to make a trans tunnel, mount a diff, etc etc etc, and will end up with a car nearly as heavy as a torana that will be slow and not do wheelstands. May as well get another torana and put the engine back in that, half the work.

Cheers.

1780lbs....Or about 800kg. So yeah real light i suppose hehehehe....And mine has glass guards, and wont have most things left on it....hehehehe. Dunno what a stock beetle engine weighs, will find out soon when i pull the 1600 twin port out, i'll weigh it to get an idea how much i'll gain putting the six in, but im guessing shitloads.

Cheers.

I remember years ago at TAFE we played with VW engines. To turn it around on the bench I found I could stand on the bench, grab the inlet manifold, lift it up and spin it around no worries.

So, the engine weighs bugger-all...

If I remember correctly, the crankcase is magnesium?

They teach firies not to spray directly under the bonnet/boot of early Veedubs. The magnesium casings that some had tend to explode (not as in big fireball, just as in go pop and spray molten metal everywhere) when they are hit with water after being heated/on fire.

I always thought it was Hitlers last laugh, exploding engines in a car exported around the world lol

My genius mind came up with a even better idea today use your VW bits to build a kick arse Trike and then bolt the grenade motor on it now that really would pull wheel stands and look SIC2
