I reckon it's easier to win Tatts than to get an A9X.

That maybe true now, but not so 8 years ago. Hell I could have bought two within about 3 months and all for the sum of $15k each! Why oh why did I not buy them both! One could have been for spares - only joking.

I was also offered one or two. But at the time I was more interested in other vehicles. If I knew then what I know now...

Screw original; period mods all the bloody way!

That is insanely awesome and retro. What are the mags on it? they sorta look like the Rallye wheels on my mate's HQ, but they're a bit different.

Am I correct in hoping this will be availible for viewing by attendents of VTC Cruises and Static Car Displays? :spoton:

Put on the original A9X wheels today and fixed all the brakes front and rear. Also gave it a hanc cut and changed all fluids inc brake, water and oils. Funny thing is when i first drove it , it went like a cut cat and we have since found out the turbo is nearly rooted and not boosting much at all. Getting turbo fixed on monday..MMmm cant wait.. :spoton:

Once the turbo is fixed, the gearbox and diff will probably resemble a jigsaw puzzle.

it has an m21 and a salisbury diff. It has been like this since 1980 so i think it should hold together ok. :spoton:

Whats the go with the turbo?

I know of another one with one on it aswell, did someone do them as an aftermarket/option thingy?

Would this detract or add to the value?

Turbos were a common mod done to A9X's at the time, some dealerships were offering them as well. Provided the car hasn't had to be cut up or modified too much, it won't detract from the value. This one looks like it would simply unbolt, so there are no dramas at all. It looks like a really good thing.

Its a Graham Ritter turbo which was put on in 1980. Very advanced set up for the era.Runs decompression plates under both cylinder heads and a special inlet gasket to accomodate the lift in cylinder head height.Pretty efficient. The only mod they have done that i dont like is a small section of the rail has been cut to fit the turbo dump pipe. That can be fixed at a later date. :spoton:
